Thanks, I got it working, I downloaded 5.07 version from DAG, installed
it
and it worked, someone mentioned something about rpm, so I guess next
tiime
I'll just try to find a rpm package instead of tar or gz file.
Thanks in advance for your comment/suggestion

I have found a site where they recompiled Acrobat reader and plugin to
work in FC 1. Here is the URL:
http://www.gurulabs.com/downloads.html
It's version 5.08-2, it works great.

Windows worms and mail server config
by Pedro Fernandes Macedo
After those recent freaking virii around , I'm trying to find a way to
block them...
What's the best way to do this?
I want to avoid sending unnecessary bounces (specially because I'm the
postmaster for a domain that has about 1300 users and lots of virii
bounces dailly , which are almost driving me mad, so I want to avoid
unnecessary pain to other domain admins) ...
Should I just reject messages containing the damned extensions
(scr, com, pif, bat) or should I accept them , scan them using some
antivirus and then drop the bounces of infected messages? The second
option leaves the risk of someone sending a valid pif or bat file that
has "format c: /X /Q" , "deltree c: /y" or something like that , but
leaves the valid e-mails coming... (even though I believe that normal
windoze users dont send this kind of attachment)...
Right now my server is a standard redhat 9 at work and a FC1 at home ,
both using sendmail... How can I do this?
(hints for qmail and postfix are welcome also , as we're thinking about
switching from sendmail to qmail or postfix)
Thanx...

Log in at that point with root password and run fsck on the broken
partitions.

Ran fsck on /dev/hda1 and /dev/hda2 after logging in as root. Problem was
still there.
Grabbed the Red Hat Recovery CD and tried the above after rebooting. No
luck.
Ran e2fsck -cv /dev/hda1 and e2fsck -v -y /dev/hda1.
There anything else I should try ?
Thanks

updates-testing release schedule
by Matt Hansen
Hi guys
What is the release schedule for updates currently in updates testing?
i.e. kernel-2.4.22-1.2154.nptl has been in there since 13th Jan and some
such as postfix-2.0.16-1.i386.rpm have been there since late Nov. Is it
all part of the QA process that governs some packages taking months to
reach updates released?
Any idea when kernel 2154 or 2163 will be released?
Thank you

Xine broke mplayer?
by Ben Steeves
I haven't done a lot of investigating into this yet, so this e-mail may
be a tad premature... if the solution turns out to be obvious, I
apologize in advance.
Yesterday, I removed ogle from my system and replaced it with Xine
(using the FreshRPMs packages).
Now, any AVI streams I watch are in black and white! They used to be
colour...
This happens in both Xine and Mplayer. Mplayer was working fine before
xine, and I could *swear* I watched some clips with Xine last night and
they were in colour.
I checked my eyes and my monitor... it's definitely something to do with
the codecs. What surprises me is that installing Xine affected
Mplayer.
Does anyone with deeper experience with these apps have any clue as to
what's going on?

Hi Luca,
I've had the same problem. I tried using smbtar, and also tried using
smbclient, but kept getting the errors. In the end, I removed the samba
packages that shipped with FC1 and replaced them with the ones from RH9.
Then the scripts worked again. To be specific, now I am using the
following samba packages:
samba-2.2.7a-6
samba-common-2.2.7a-6
samba-client-2.2.7a-6
If you have RH9, you can get them from it. If not, you can probably
download them from rpmfind or some such place. Probably not the solution
you wanted, but it worked for me.
