Who is writing in the disks?
by Carlos H. Reimer
Hi,
The iostat is showing that some one is writing in disks sda and sdb but it
should not happen as almost all the requests from the system should be
queries and not updates.
Is there a way to discover who are the PIDs that are currently writing in
the sda and sdb disks?
Thank you in advance!

FC6 core duo and cpuspeed
by Christian Menzel
No, this is not the i586 problem :-)
I just upgraded my ThinkPad T60p to FC6 and I'm under the impression
that the core duo isn't handled as good as in FC5.
When starting cpuspeed it doesn't go into daemon mode but instead loads
the cpufreq_ondemand module. The CPU scaling applets can be loaded in
the tray and configured for CPU0 and CPU1 but changing the frequency for
one CPU results in a parallel change for the other.
This is also the case when the system is under load, the applets always
show the same freq for both cores. This behavior is different from the
behavior in FC5, where sometimes only one CPU was under load.
As a side effect, I think the fan is running more often and at a higher
speed as before.
Is there something I must configure, or should I build a custom SMP
kernel?
Regards
Chris

Re: Problems in Installing VMware server in FC6
by Arnold Sutter
Hello Jeffy,
> Building for VMware Server 1.0.0.
Installed VMware Server 1.0.1 on FC6 yesterday without problems
(without any-any-updates).
Make sure you have full gcc (and possibly legacy support) as
well as xinetd installed.

rpm segment faults on Fedora Core 6
by Elaine Normandy
After a clean install of FC6, I am finding a lot of segment faults with rpm,
and am having to do rpm --rebuilddb almost every other time I run rpm. (At
first I thought I was having a yum problem, but I think it is rpm instead.)
Any ideas how to fix it?

Re: fc6 install fail on HP ProLiant ML320 G4
by GianPiero Puccioni
Hi,
I posted a few days ago about the exact same problem (but no one answered)
only on a G3. I have tried the text installation, to switch off APCI from the
BIOS, and something I don't remember, but it always hangs either when the
Graphics Screen appears (with the "moving X") or at the equivalent place in the
text installation.
Any advice?

Problems in Installing VMware server in FC6

I am still having problems in installing VMware server in Fedora

kernel upgrade from FC5 to FC6
by Antonio M
I upgraded my first machine this afternoon.
When I re-started the machine I had only one kernel installed while in
FC5 I had 4 kernels installed (the last two as standard and SMP).
Is it correct that Fedora deleted all old kernels that I had in FC5??
I have some doubt because if the only installed kernel should not work
I have no choice...furthermore I need to have a choice when I will
upgrade another machine that is booted from a CD
Any comment??
Tnx
