Mike,
Through your use of the utility can you tell me if it supports
attachments?
Many thanks,

Chris,
I converted our archived Outlook emails into standard mbox format files
(multi-part MIME format) using:
http://www.matijs.net/software/msgconv/
Then you can read the email using Thunderbird, or similar programs.

FC5 - audio not working, what to try?
by B Wooster
On FC3, audio was working fine on my system.
On upgrading to FC5, audio is not working.
xine/mplayer provide no sound.
Using the system-config-soundcard utility, I can see it says it found:
Vendor: Silicon
Model: Integrated Systems [SiS] Sound Controller
Module: snd-intel8x.0
But when I click on the play button on that window, I get no sound.
It says look at /root/scsound.log, but not sure what to look it -
nothing jumps out.
Any ideas on what I should try next?
Surprisingly - I also have Leadtex WinFast TV Capture card in my
system, and using "tvtime", I can watch TV - and the audio on that
works!

Logitech USB Headset (Audio newbe)
by Don Flinn
Hi
I have a new Logitech USB Headset 350 that I am trying to get to work on
FC5. I've run the suggestions of previous writers -

Bus 004 Device 002: ID 0451:2046 Texas Instruments, Inc. TUSB2046 Hub
So my system knows the device is there. I've also gone to the system
volume control and the headset is listed there and I have selected it.
However, I can not hear an musical/audio cd through the CD player or any
other audio device.
Does anyone have any additional suggestions.
By the way the headset works fine on my Windows machine, so no problem
with the headset. I can get audio feedback if I blow into the mic, but
that might just be internal between the headset and the earpiece.
I have the feeling that there is just some little tweak that I'm
missing.
Thanks for any help

xorg.conf no longer changeabe by system-config-display
by Irvine Short
Hey All
I have an IBM T43 with the Intel 915 chipset running FC5. I wanted to
extend my desktop onto my external monitor which would not work using
system-config-display. I then manually hacked my xorg.conf and now I
have a working extended desktop but I can no longer go into
system-config-display.
Anyone have any tips for getting around this please? Also a neat idea
for choosing different xorg.conf files for whether or not I have my
external monitor connected would be handy.
Cheers,

I'm pretty new to Fedora, so forgive me if I'm way off, but I would check
your Xorg configuration file. While setting up the dual-video card display
on FC5 that worked a week ago in FC3, I found that my xorg.conf file
determined if the computer would freeze on me. Upon loading inittab,
though, the computer would also freeze the keyboard and the ability to shut
down by quickly pressing the power button on the tower. Fixing the problem
was only a matter of reconfiguring xorg.conf, which I accomplished by:
1. Boot the computer from the first install disk, and type "linux rescue" at
the prompt
2. Find your root drive in the /mnt folder, named...I forget..."sysvol"
maybe
3. Remove the "/etc/X11/xorg.conf" file
4. I got tired of the bootdisk, so I changed inittab's line 18 to
"id:3:initdefault:" instead of "id:5:initdefault:"
5. Reboot,
a. If you didn't change inittab, it will probably try to make a new
xorg.conf file - it did for me.
b. Otherwise, you can mess around in the bash or whatever and see if it
continues to freeze, and you can type "init 5" when you feel like testing
the GUI.
Two other things that froze my system - my CPU was overheating without
Powersaving mode, and my USB network device likes to lose connectivity and
make a few things cry. Hope my problems let you think of something.

Kernel update with yum
by David McCormick
I recently did a clean install of FC-4 64 bit on a new disk and updated
using yum update with livna. Now when I reboot Grub starts the 2111
kernel by default which is waht I want but fails with the following
root (hd2,0)
filesystem is ext2fs, partition type 0x87
kernel /boot/vmlinux-2.6.16-1.2111_FC4 ro root=lable=/123 rhgb quiet
error15: file not found
I have reinstalled and updated several times with the same results.
I have done this before and never had this problem, any ideas what is
happening with the update?
I have also just tried to update the kernel with out a full update with
the same result. It is a 64 bit machine but I did not have this trouble
with the old disk on the same machine.
Thanks
