by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
I need to increase the timeout of the ssh session, so I set
ClientAliveInterval 7200
in the file: /etc/ssh/sshd_config
but I did not observe any change.
What am I doing wrong ?
Thank

Re: fedora-list Digest Batching email enhancement
by Leslie S Satenstein
As you can see from the table of contents, (refer below my signature), the messages are numbered.
Is it possible to add a number to the message headers appearing in clear text, that are listed thereafter?

Non-root USB-mount: How to?
by Hiisi
Dear Fedora-Folks!
I have FC11 system, running in a text mode most of the time. I would
like to mount USB-flash under ordinary user (not root only). Here is my
/etc/fstab:
#
# /etc/fstab
# Created by anaconda on Sun Jun 14 21:32:42 2009
#
# Accessible filesystems, by reference, are maintained under '/dev/disk'
# See man pages fstab(5), findfs(8), mount(8) and/or vol_id(8) for more
info
#
UUID=783c1044-238d-4ce7-adef-11f71fdc8abf /boot ext3
defaults 1 2
/dev/mapper/vg_imt-lv_root / ext4 defaults
1 1
/dev/mapper/vg_imt-LogVol03 /var ext4 defaults
1 2
/dev/mapper/vg_imt-LogVol02 /home ext4 defaults
1 2
/dev/mapper/vg_imt-lv_swap swap swap defaults
0 0
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults
0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts defaults
0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs defaults
0 0
proc /proc proc defaults
0 0
/dev/sdb1 /media/fl auto
user,noauto 0 0
/dev/sdc1 /media/fl1 auto
user,nouato 0 0
I added last two lines for the task. But it doesn't work properly. I
have 2 USB-disks. One of them is an old 126 MB Transcend drive, vfat
type. I can mount it from non-root account simply typing 'mount
/media/fl', when it is plugged into /dev/sdb1. But I can't mount it to
the second USB-port (/dev/sdc1). If I try 'mount /media/fl1' I have the
following error:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdc1,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
The other USB-drive is 2 GB Kingston, vfat either. I can mount it from
root account using mount /dev/sdc1 /media/fl1. But have the above error
when trying to mount it under non-root account. What the deal? Could
anybody help me? Thanks in advance.

tune2fs journal_data_writeback is not permanently saved.
by slamp slamp

i am running fedora 11 with all the latest updates on LVM on top of md
raid1. i reboot into the live cd and run tune2fs -o
journal_data_writeback on all my lvs modified fstab to mount
data=writeback. rebooted into fedora and all is well. i shutdown and
the next morning i booted my fedora i had errors because the lvs are
back to data=ordered. how is this so? doesn't tune2fs save its changes
to the filesystem?
any help would be appreciated.

samba shares unmountable by user

Greetings all;
Here is another example of why I run as root on the main box here, regardless
of how much hell you give me about it.

Ok, so 'genesdir' is there. So I made a mount point in ~/gene/lappy-samba here
on this box and:
[gene@coyote Pictures]$ mount -t cifs /lappy.coyote.den/genesdir ./lappy-samba
mount: only root can do that
There are some pictures stored in ~/gene/Pictures on that laptop that I sorely
need to access and move as they might help me troubleshoot a transmitter
problem that is a 900 mile drive away.
What is the secret? (selinux isn't even built into the kernel here)
Thanks.

Can't change password in cyrus-imapd, pam_mysql
by Uno Engborg
Hi,
I'm trying to set up cyrus-imapd everything works except that I can't
change passwords.
I use mysql to store encrypted passwords, and saslauthd + pam_mysql
If I change the password using in mysql:
UPDATE domainuser VALUES ("user(a)somedomain.com"
encrypt("newpassword"));
and then do:
testsaslauthd -u 'user(a)somedomain.com' -p newpassword -s imap -r
somedomain.com
It works just fine:
However, if I do
cyradm -u someuser(a)somedomain.com localhost
I fail to log in if I use the new password, but I can log in just fine
with the old password, I can even remove someuser(a)somedomain.com from
the SQL-database, and I can still login to cyradm using the old
password.
If I run saslauthd in debug mode, and try to log in to cyradm or
squirrelmail using the old password I get:
saslauthd[17805] :do_auth : auth success: [user=someuser]
[service=imap] [realm=somedomain.com] [mech=pam]
saslauthd[17805] :do_request : response: OK
If I use the changed password I saslauthd gives:
saslauthd[17804] :rel_accept_lock : released accept lock
saslauthd[17807] :get_accept_lock : acquired accept lock
saslauthd[17804] :do_auth : auth failure: [user=someuser]
[service=imap] [realm=somedomain.com] [mech=pam] [reason=PAM auth error]
I get the impression that pam_mysql somehow caches usernames and
passwords. Is there some way to turn this off, so that passwords can be
changed?

Google Gadgets
by Craig White
F10 (if that matters) - KDE
Looks cool but every gadget that requires data input like city/state/zip
code for weather gadgets, I can click in a box but it never allows me to
type. I can change languages for translation gadget or a quotation
gadget but it won't actually save the change and I am stuck in English.
Does anyone use google gadgets and have success?

Firefox 3.5 beta occasionally completely locks system when starting f11 x86_64
by stan
Hi,
Occasionally, when starting Firefox in F11 x86_64 it will completely
lock the system, requiring a hard reboot. Is anyone else experiencing
this? If it is just an idiosyncrasy on my system, I won't bother
opening a problem record. I have no indication of what is causing
this, it might not even be firefox but something that firefox triggers.
Seems to happen when the tabs from a previous shutdown of Firefox are
loading.
The system is up to date with all the updates from updates-testing so
is running the latest kernel from there.
