fedora 25 mate-compiz compiz application ghost windows issue

Anyone else seeing ghost windows when an application windows is moved around in fedora 25 with mate-compiz spin? Any idea when it will be fixed?

system-config-samba?

I admit the old system-config-samba tool looked very lame, but it was the only non-cryptic way I ever found to define a samba user for my Windows systems to connect as. In that tool, I'd go to Preferences>Samba Users.. then I could associate a unix user name with a windows user name and specify a password for windows to use. I presume I can do the same with the smbpasswd command line tool, but the man page for it is utterly cryptic. Can anyone translate the options for me to tell me which option means unix user, which means windows user and how I'll specify the password? Or even better, can anyone tell me where in the blue blazes the password file is stored so I can copy it from my fedora24 partition to my fedora25 partition?

F24 CUPS : all errors go to syslog

I'm trying to add a printer to headless server. I've edited cupsd.conf so I can log on remotely. I've set up the printer on cups, but on printing a test page I get "filter failed"' I've set LogLevel to debug and restarted. No output to error_log. MaxLogSize 0 LogLevel debug # Allow remote access Port 631 Listen /var/run/cups/cups.sock Instead of error_log CUPS sends it all to syslog . I've googled. but I can't see when to change that to /var/log/cups/error_log. thanks, sean

Setting biosdevname=0 netif.names=0 in Fedora 25 seems no to work

Hello, There is a way to avoid using the enp2s* naming conventions for ethernet cards and use eth* instead by adding biosdevname=0 netif.names=0 to the kernel command line. I used it in earlier Fedora distros, but with F25 it does not work. My Kernel command line now after adding "biosdevname=0 netif.names=0" is: cat /proc/cmdline BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.8.6-300.fc25.x86_64 root=UUID=2d422951-00af-4b9b-94d2-c7661beeea33 ro rhgb quiet biosdevname=0 netif.names=0 Still "ifconfig -a" shows devices like enp0s25, enp2s0f0. enp2s0f1 and so on, and not eth* devices. Hello, With nedit on fedora 24, I get manyt time the following error message: NEdit warning: XmClipboardInquireLength() failed: clipboard locked. when I make a copy paste from one file to another file. Any idea ? Hello, using anacrontab weekly: This is what I have in my anacrontab file: 7 15 cron.weekly nice run-parts /etc/cron.weekly It seems that it run will be run 7 days after the date in /var/spool/anacron/cron.weekly Can I change this date ? locating the cursor with F-25 wayland

Hi, everyone, Just upgraded to f25. Wonderful once I got past a google earth bug with help from the developers (use rpm -e to remove the misbehaving package if you run into that issue.) BUT, and for me it is a tough one... No mouse tails, and the control key no longer highlights the mouse. I am a bit visually impared, so this is a real tough nut for me. Especially since they also put the text cursor to the very thing vertical line. Please if anyone has found a tweak tool for this new environment, please let me know. Regards, Les H

Fedora 25 & LibreOffice Version: 5.2.3.3

Everyone, I have some keyboard macros <Alt>3 and <Alt>2 that no longer work with LibreOffice after the Fedora 25 upgrade from Fedora 24. I thought it might be related to a Wayland versus X11 issue but there was no difference in function of the macros. However the overall performance seemed faster with X11 than with Wayland. Anyone have any ideas about LibreOffice keyboard macros? Greg Ennis

Windows missing from grub.cfg after updating to Fedora 25?

I just recently updated a system from Fedora 24 to Fedora 25, and everything seemed to go just fine. Just noticed that windows is no longer on the grub boot menu? Reran grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg and still nothing. entries for 30-osprober show nothing. Running os-prober also shows nothing.
