I do the same. I don't like updating the entire system against 3rd
party repos. I only use them when I need to.
Is it possible to mark particular repositories with a regex for the
packages it is allowed to provide? That would make it a lot
more convenient -- you wouldn't need to specify --enablerepo when
running yum. Heck, you could even enable autoupdates and
feel somewhat safe your system wouldn't be creamed by strange
new updates from a repository...
