I started to have this problem in F25 (after some recent upgrade, not
from the beginning) but it seems gone (knock on wood) in F26.
I'm having the same problem at work on an Ubuntu workstation (16.04 I
think?) but only when using gnome (or mate). No problems yet under Unity.
So perhaps something in gnome triggers the crash in nouveau.
The whole system doesn't crash, only the X-server (or wayland) and you
can ssh into the system from another machine and run dmesg. The last
things you see are nouveau error messages.
