Software Guitar strings synth from scratch?

People,

I want to experiment with synthesizing guitar strings sounds from sine 
waves by adding harmonics, overtones etc - what FOSS software will allow 
me to do this?

csound looks excellent! - playing around with CLI and online versions 
now . .

Have you done anything with csound yourself?
