How can I upload a file to ftp server

In ftp server /etc/vsftpd/vsftpd.conf the settings as ; write_enable=YES anon_upload_enable=YES Within a lan from a remote machine, login as regular user and tried to upload a file to ftp server with commands below but failed and got message; put xyz.txt 123.txt (upload the file xyz.txt to ftp sever with a new name 123.txt ) the message I got is ; local : xyz.txt remote : 123.txt 227 Entries passive mode (192,156,1,111,210,13) 553 could not create file What's wrong? Problem with SWAT

Greetings, I'm running FC2 with samba-swat 3.0.3.5 installed. I've checked the /etc/xinetd.d and /etc/services files. Wireless Dlink USB on Fedora Core 2

First, thanks for the help w/ my dual boot problem ... working great now! I'm trying to figure out how to get a dlink DWL-122 USB installed. I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the information available. I could use a quick list of everything that needs to be done and gotchas. From what I've been reading it looks like I need to install wlan-ng which involves rolling my own kernel or something which is a bit confusing because most of the info looks like it is for the 2.4 kernel and I'm running the 2.6 in a default FC2 install ... how do I know which wlan-ng package to use w/ what kernel source and where the heck do I put all the stuff I'll be creating - there appears to be some confusion - maybe only in my head :) - in the various things I'm reading about where the FC2 kernel is located. It looks like if I get the kernel/wlan thing figured out, I need to install a driver from prism for the USB wireless device ... even this doesn't appear to be all that straight forward. FYI ... I've never messed w/ the kernel and have mostly used RPM packages on the old Red Hat distros for just about everything, so while I have managed to get Apache, MySQL, PHP, Postfix, Samba, etc working on Red Hat 7+ over the years, I'm still pretty much of a newbie when it comes to doing "nuts and bolts" kinds of things in linux, so explain it to me like I've never seen a computer before. There is tons of info on the web about just about everything Linux related, but for this particular problem I haven't been able to piece the various fragments of info together in a way that makes me understand how to do make this happen.

Easy way to upgrade to personal desktop from a minimal install?

Hi, I downloaded and burned the FC2 DVD iso and it after two failed installs on the same package, tested the disc, which failed. I retried the install, this time, choosing minimum and fc2 installed successfully. Of course I only get text mode which is not what I want. I'd like to somehow get the packages I would get with the workstation or desktop choice during install. I've been using YUM to update the packages I know I need but is there an easier way to do this? Josh

kernel change/mount change

I just put a dual-cpu MB in my computer and installed kernel-smp-2.4.22-1.2188.nptl_48.rhfc1.at and since then have noticed that when the system boots, the / filesystem is first mounted as ext2 rather than ext3 and then remounted as ext3 later. Normally, this isn't a problem, but in the event that the system is shutdown "dirty" the / filesystem must be fsck'ed rather than doing a simple journal replay. Is this an intentional behavior, or has something changed somewhere to account for this? -- -John (john(a)os2.dhs.org)

Samba and windows 2003 server

I’m using samba that came with the FC1. It can see the other machines on the network fine (aka can mount/read/write them) however it can see the windows 2003 server but it can’t view the contents of the machine. It tells me that it has no associated action with this action. Has anyone had this problem? By the way the windows 2003 server can see the samba’s shares fine but samba can’t see the windows 2003 server shares. Thanks gm --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Ok, I see that.
