Re: howto remove core

No, just two kernels. Kernel updates will leave the previous kernel
around so that you can still boot your machine if something went wrong.
NM> how can i remove the old one ?
Make sure the new one works for you, and then do
yum erase kernel-2.6.15-1.2054_FC5

fftw on FC5?
by Globe Trotter
Has anyone used fftw on FC5? I upgraded two weeks ago, and now I get FFT's all
zeros. I am not sure if I have inadvertently introduced a bug in my program
somewhere, but I am mystified, where.
So, I thought I would ask if anyone has had problems/no problems with fftw on
FC5.
Many thanks and best wishes,
Trotter.
Here is a sample function and a calling program:
#include<stdio.h>
#include<math.h>
#include<complex.h>
#include<fftw3.h>
/* calculates the FFT of a complex periodic 1-, 2- and 3-dimensional arrays,
using FFTW, described at www.fftw.org. Note that the FFT's are scaled
which means that applying the FFT and then its inverse provides the
sequence back. This is a variation from the output of FFTW.
*/
int fft(int n,fftw_complex *f,int sign)
{
/* calculates the forward and backward Fast Fourier Transform of a complex
1-dimensional sequence (using FFTW, the Fastest Fourier Transform of the
West).
The third argument sign takes one of FFTW_FORWARD and FFTW_BACKWARD.
Note that the input sequence is replaced by its forward or inverse FFT on
return. */
fftw_complex *ff,*out;
fftw_plan p;
int i;
if (!abs(sign)) {
printf("ERROR: Please specify one of FFTW_FORWARD or FFTW_BACKWARD for
forward/inverse transform\n");
exit(1);
}
ff = (fftw_complex*) fftw_malloc(sizeof(fftw_complex) * n);
out = (fftw_complex*) fftw_malloc(sizeof(fftw_complex) * n);
for (i=0;i<n;i++) ff[i]=f[i];
p = fftw_plan_dft_1d(n, ff, out, sign, FFTW_MEASURE);
fftw_execute(p); /* repeat as needed */
for (i=0;i<n;i++) f[i]=out[i]/sqrt((double)n);
fftw_destroy_plan(p);
fftw_free(ff);
fftw_free(out);
return 0;
}
int main(void)
{
fftw_complex *ff;
int i,dum,n=216;
double a;
FILE *ffile;
ff = (fftw_complex*) fftw_malloc(sizeof(fftw_complex) * n);
ffile=fopen("mu","r");
for (i=0;i<n;i++) {
fscanf(ffile,"%lE\n",&a);
ff[i]=a;
}
fclose(ffile);
dum=fft(n,ff,FFTW_FORWARD);
ffile=fopen("mu.fftf","w");
for (i=0;i<n;i++) {
fprintf(ffile,"%f %f\n",creal(ff[i]),cimag(ff[i]));
}
fclose(ffile);
dum=fft(n,ff,FFTW_BACKWARD);
ffile=fopen("mu.fftb","w");
for (i=0;i<n;i++) {
fprintf(ffile,"%f %f\n",creal(ff[i]),cimag(ff[i]));
}
fclose(ffile);
fftw_free(ff);
return 0;
}
Comment: By the way, the malloc is as in the FFTW manual. I prefer the cleaner,
more C-ish
ff = fftw_malloc(n * sizeof *ff);
myself.
Best, Trotter

Email list down?
by Mike Chambers
I don't seem to be getting any emails from any Fedora list, maybe few
more. So I am asking if any or all of them are down or not?

Problem with FC5 and PXE boot
by Chris Mason (Lists)
I am booting a 2 x 800mhz P3 machine from pxe, it's a one U server with
no CDROM or ability to install one.
The disk 1 ISO image is shared via NFS. PXE boot happens fine, I get
through the install configuration, setup the RAID, and the installer
goes off formating the drives. When the installer starts copying the
data over, then I get a message "The file gjdoc...is missing....".
What am I doing wrong?

Testing iso downloads?
by Gordon Gallup
Greetings all,
I have downloaded the FC5 isos and, after burning the first one, I
found that the media check failed when I booted. Is there any way of
checking the correctness of the download step separate from the
burning step? The disk image mounted successfully with mount "loop"
option.

Trying to Access Windows share..

Hi.
I have FC4 and I'm trying to use Nautilus to access a Windows 2000 shared
drive. When I enter the information, it appears to hang. Any ideas/thoughts
on what I need to do. I can ping the Windows box from the linux box with no
problems...

FC and Vmware
by bruce
Hi..
Is there an Open Source Vmware for FC? Or is Xen the closest we have? I'm
looking at being able to create a kind of Virtual system to allow users to
access/log into a couple of boxes, to run smoe apps. If I could more or less
create a basic environment where they could login, run the apps, and then
get out, i wouldn't have to worry about them screwing up the system...
Thoughts/Comments...
