FC as web server for multiple domains
by Peter Lauri
Hi,
How secure is a FC6 basic installation as an online web server?
I have always used Plesk control panel on FC. But that is extremely
vulnerable. I tried to install cvs with yum and some dependencies made Plesk
stopped working. So now I am here, wanting to setup my plain web server with
email, ftp, ssh and http(s) working.
Anyone here who is running FC as their web server for the moment? And that
configured it by them self?
I am quite a newbie on this, but familiar with how FC works. I only have ssh
connection access to the server, so all have to be done with that
connection.
Best regards,
Peter Lauri

Kickstart in FC6
by Kwan Lowe
I just noticed that the anaconda-ks.cfg file, created during installation, doesn't
contain the "zerombr yes" directive. I think I understand *why* it was left off; I
presume to prevent someone from blindly using the auto-generated ks file and
destroying a system. However, maybe it could be created in the kickstart but
commented out like the partition information.
Here's what the file contains even though I chose to delete all partitions during
interactive configuration:
#clearpart --linux
#part /boot --fstype ext3 --size=100
#part pv.3 --size=100 --grow
[snip]
Additionally, it needs the following for fully automated install:
zerombr yes
clearpart --all

by Jeffrey Ross
Subject kinda says it all. I have a x86_64 system but would like to
compile binaries for a P3 system that does not have a compiler installed
(nor the space for one)

TECHNOLATIN
by Howard Howell
Technolatin seems to be a word created by Doc Searls to describe a
phenomenon of obfuscation by technical marketing types and engineers who
seem pitifully short in language skills to cover their inability to
speak clearly and approach users with terminology they can use and
understand. I am bringing this up here because many of the things that
get said about Windows, Linux, and other Operating Systems is rife with
such empty words, and because one of my sons sent me an email about it.
Google "What's the Object? The problem with technolatin". It is a good
read and may help some of us ( unfortunately, myself included) get our
language skills a good upgrade (more technolatin?)

Antivirus For Fedora & Postfix
by Luc MAIGNAN
Hi all,
I've installed a mail server (postfix) on a fedora Core 6 64 bits. I'm
looking for a antivirus solution to be placed on the mail server, but
the solutions I've found (Kapersky, Bitdefender,...) are only available
in 32 bits. Does anyone kown a stable solution in 64 bits ?
Thanks

Problems with D-Bus on FC5
by Kelly Miller
When I run yum update on my FC5 system and restart, the messagebus service
simply lags forever and never starts. I suspect there's a problem with the
package or the program...
