X and Intel 965

so far the installation of FC6 has gone relatively smoothly albeit some additional learning and bumps due to the 64 bit architecture of this machine. The mother board is an Intel DG965RYCK which uses Intel's 965 express chipset. Based upon what I've been able to find on the web, Intel has released the drivers for this chipset to OSS, although there have been issues as to what Intel actually released and how complete they might be. Regardless I unable to run mplayer (or Realplayer) for that matter without the display first freezing then going black followed by garbage along the bottom of the screen. A Control-Alt-Backspace does not stop X from running. The only way to recover the machine from this point is to reboot the system. I am still able to connect from a remote system, its just the display that has become unstable. lspci -v shows the following for the graphics adapter 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02) (prog-if 00 [VGA]) Subsystem: Intel Corporation Unknown device 514d Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 177 Memory at 50200000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=1M] Memory at 40000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M] I/O ports at 3110 [size=8] Capabilities: [90] Message Signalled Interrupts: 64bit- Queue=0/0 Enable- Capabilities: [d0] Power Management version 2 suggestions would be appreciated. google calendar with evolution

Hi, did anyone of you get evolution's google calendar backend to play? If yes how, all I get is nothing. I can create google calendars but thei're stuck offline with no syncing at all. regards christoph

Update Problems

Running F9, the administrative -> update option no longer works. When I click for details, I get the message "cannot update whilst offline". I have network access. How do I make updates think that it is online? Also, what is the difference between running the console command yum update and doing an update via the administrative desktop? Thanks.

Here is a comment from a recent KDE4.2 review: ============================================================================ The Desktop Plasma has most goals listed for inclusion in KDE4.2, followed closely by KWin. Currently Plasma behaves somewhat unstable and can crash while managing the plasmoids. Firefox is (and was) responsible for web applications, but obviously this has no influence on my problem. Can't say why. Still konqueror is started. Help needed: firefox no more std application for a WEB URL

Hi, I'm using F9 together with gnome as std desktop. I have some WEB links on my gnome desktop, and since all fedora generations, firefox is started if I click on an icon on my desktop pointing to some website. But since a few days, clicking on a web icon starts konqueror and no more firefox. How to re-switch to firefox? There is no "open with" dialog when clicking with the right mouse on such an icon. Firefox printing is ugly

When Firefox prints a page, the fonts generally reflect the fonts of the web page (at least they reflect whats seen on the screen when displaying the page), but the layout is all wrong. This happens on all web pages but is worst on the N.Y. Times, and it happens both in actual printouts and in print preview, though not, as I wrote, when displaying the web page itself Letters, frequently 'i's and 'o's to are displayed a little to the right or left of where they ought to be. A small screenshot of an example is attached. Has anyone else observed this? Does anyone know the reason or a cure? I'm running Firefox 3.0.2 under Fedora-9 on an x86_64 system. Thanks - jon

VMware start and hardreboot

Hi, I installed vmware and the any-any-patch like described in the list. vmmon compiles with many warnings, but it compiles :) But now if I try to start a vm quest system, my system does a hard reboot. I do not really find any neccesary in the logs so I do not how to debug this. Does anyone has the same problem like me?
