Fedora 17 - Unlocking LUKS encrypted LVM volume with key file
by Mateusz Marzantowicz
Is there support in Fedora 17 for unlocking encrypted LVM volume (which
acts as a container for my root, swap and other partitions) with key
file placed on SD/MMC card during system boot up process?
Currently I have to provide passphrase during system boot (standard
behavior), but I'd like to allow automatic unlock during power on/reboot
when I have SD card plugged in.
I've started to read some web pages and tutorials with different
solutions but I'm curious if there is a recommended way for doing this
in Fedora 17.
My current understanding of dm-crypt/LUKS on Fedora is that I need to
make some changes to dracut and udev in order to unlock encrypted
volumes using key files, but maybe something has changed in F17 and
there is an option to pass in grub/kernel/initrd command line to do this?

Nope, I have none of those problems, that I know of. My iMac is working
fine running F 17 except for the lack of sound when the headphones are
plugged in.
The music is playing back, I can actually hear it, just a little bit,
through my noise canceling headphones.

You are right about me using Win2000. I'm the only
one I know who still uses it and it is still working
very good for me. Hard to believe isn't it?
My main machine, which runs Win2000, was bought new in
2006. If I had bought it 6 months later Win2000 would
not install on it.
The Linux went on a 6 core AMD 64 machine I had built last
weekend. Now I have Win7 on that machine.
I think some people here are taking this post of mine out-
of-context. My intent was to record my experience for myself
and for anybody who cares to see it on this list. That is
all. No slams intended.
I will almost surely be moving to Linux someday, but I
suspect it may still be years away.

by Erik P. Olsen
In order to make a VPN connection using pptp I need a plugin for NM. Ubuntu has
a package network-manager-pptp but I can't find a similar package for Fedora 16.
I wonder if it al all exists. What can I do to make such connection?

Problem with dual monitor and kernel 3.5
by Amitakhya Phukan
Hi all!
After a update to kernel 3.5, my dual monitor support has stopped working.
I am stuck with 800X600 type of display. The actual display should be
1600X900. I am not even able to see this resolution in the display
settings. Was anything broken in the recent updates ? What is the fix ? I
am having Intel Controller for display.
Kind regards.
Amitakhya.

mdadm: Cannot activate member /md126/0 in /dev/md126.
It seems related to this bug.
I'm not sure that afterall, this is currently supported.
