Prism2 Wireless on FC2?
by Dave Ashby
Just upgraded to FC2.
Good news: unlike FC1, pcmcia detects my wireless card at boot.
"cardctl ident" yields:
Socket 0:
product info: "The Linksys Group, Inc.", "Instant Wireless Network PC
Card", "ISL37300P", "RevA"
manfid: 0x0274, 0x1612
function: 6 (network)
Socket 1:
no product info available
Bad news: wlan0 doesn't find the prism2 driver when I plug in my card.
From /var/log/messages:
May 29 14:33:05 Sacajawea cardmgr[1487]: executing: 'modprobe prism2_cs
2>&1'
May 29 14:33:05 Sacajawea cardmgr[1487]: + FATAL: Module prism2_cs not
found.
I thought I recalled some discussion that the orinoco_cs driver should
work for this card, but I can't figure out where to change the driver.
Changing the "alias wlan0 prism2_cs" line in /etc/modprobe.conf causes
my card to no longer be detected at boot (although I don't see any
likely errors in dmesg or /var/log/messages).
On FC1 I had to use the prism2 rpms from
http://prism2.unixguru.raleigh.nc.us/ to get pcmcia + wireless working.
Since FC2 seems to have my pcmcia working without any tinkering, I hoped
I could get my wireless up by changing some config files.
Does anyone know how I can get my wireless up and running?

Wastebin icon FC2 KDE
by Dylan Parry
Hi,
Since upgrading to FC2 I have noticed that the icon for the wastebin on my
KDE desktop doesn't change when I add things to it, or when I empty it. In
fact it always looks like there is something in it - any ideas how to
change this?

POP to mbox converter?
by Erik P. Olsen
I am in the process of converting from OS/2 to Linux and I have thousands of
e-mails saved in separate pop files. Does anybody know of a program that can
convert all these pop files into mbox files? Or if I would have to it myself
what is the precise structure of those mboxes?

How to change default global font in FC2
by bast@altern.org
Hi,
I'd like to change the default global font used in the system.
In fact I want to use KDE and I hate the "Sans" font, which is not as clear as "Verdana" for example.
I changed anything in the control center to use Verdana instead of Sans, but when I launch applications as Mozilla, Firefox, Thunderbird, or Evolution, "Sans" is still used, and I guess it's the default system font and I'd like to change it ...
In Gnome or XFCE, when changing the application font to Verdana, those apps above are displaying well Verdana instead of Sans, so I guess Gnome and XFCE use something else than KDE for this ...
How can I change that ?
Any help would be very appreciated,
thanks,
Bastien.

[FC2] When try to install a Logitech Quickam Pro 4000, I can't get anymore sound...
by Coume - Lubox.com
Hello,
I don't know if one one you managed to get a Logitech Quickam Pro 4000
working under FC2, but I personally can't...
I followed the steps given by the pwc driver, and then rebooted the
computer. As this time, kudzu recognized the cam, and ask me 5times in
the rows if I wanted to configure it... Once I access the windows
manage, KDE in my case, the sound server is not accessible anymore.
I have to unplug the cam, reboot and unconfigure the cam to get sounds
again :(
It's a brand new camera, but it is reported to work very well under
linux. then I don't know if it's me who is doing something wrong or if
there is an issue which this cam + FC2 + alsa.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Regards,
Ludo

Music Player question
by Shaun T. Erickson
It claims to be able to play streaming Internet radio stations. There's
more than one kind, right? Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, and so on,
yes? How do I 1) know what type it will play, and 2) find stations of
that type, to play?
Hmm. I discovered the radio play list in /usr/share/rythmbox, but when I
try to play anything in that list, I get this:
There is no element present to handle the stream's mime type audio/mpeg.

Problem with Synaptics Touchpad: Tapping does not work
by Yoichi Aso
Hi,
My laptop has a Synaptics Touchpad and it worked fine with FC1, i.e. a
tapping on the pad was recognized as a left click, and with a double
tapping I could perform a drag.
But after I upgraded to FC2, the system doesn't recognize tapping at all.
Any tapping is just ignored, though I can still control the cursor
position by the touchpad.
Does any one have similar trouble or any suggestion ?
My laptop is Panasonic CF-T2: CPU Centrino 1GHz, Memory 768MB.
I also use a Logitech usb mouse as a pointer device.
The following lines are excerpts from dmesg and xorg.conf which (I
think) are related to this issue.
Thanks in advance, Yoichi.

For how long is Fedora Core 1 going to be updated?
by Preston Crawford
Asking because I read this list and it seems like FC2 is not entirely
stable. And the way the roadmap read was that FC1 wouldn't be updated
once FC2 was stable. I use FC1 and I don't want to exchange its
trustworthiness for what I'm seeing out of FC2.
