Sure.

I attempted to fix with RPMS from www.atrpm.net. I am probably worse
off than
before =P Submitted to FC bugzilla.
Bug 174955 : Kernel 2.6.14-x cause sound not to work for DVD playback.
Snippet of what happened.
Attempts to fix:
Upgraded with RPMS from www.atrpm.net:
alsa-utils-1.0.10-18.rhfc4.at.i386.rpm
libasound2-1.0.10-25.rhfc4.at.i386.rpm
alsa-lib-devel-1.0.10-25.rhfc4.at.i386.rpm
alsa-lib-1.0.10-25.rhfc4.at.i386.rpm
Resulted menus playing sounds as normal, movie plays, but lost
front channels/woofer, rear channels work but muted during movie
(not in menu).

Touch Pad Sensitivity
by Lovell Mcilwain
Hello All,
Is there a way that I can decrease the tap sensitivity or turn off the
tap option on my touch pad?
I am having this annoying problem that when I am typing my palm or some
part of my hand brushes up against the touch pad and starts me typing in
another part of the text that I have already typed. I thought I could
live with it but I really can't :) . I tried changing my typing so my
wrists are up higher but no luck. So now I would like to try turning
off the tap option (if there is a way to do that) and see if I am better
off without it.
I am using Fedora Core 4 on a Compaq Presario R3000
Thanks,
Lovell

Re: FC3 USB Hard drive - large file corruption
by Robert Paxton
Already replaced both network cards (Server and desktop machine with brand
new Linksys cards). And that dose not explain why the same machine running
FC1 works and FC3 does not, or why I can transfer to the internal hard disk
with no errors but the usb drive gets corrupted files.

Hi guys,
man dvips is not helpful in telling you where the config file is.
/usr/share/texmf/pdvips/config/config.ps is the name, a rather odd one
to my mind. Anyway, edit that, and comment out the pipe to printer. This
is a very counter-intuitive (and potentially expensive) default.
Could it be changed for FC5?

kernel designations question
by Tony Foster
I am fairly new to Linux but I was fairly good with unix 10 years ago.
I am assuming that the kernel with the SMP tag is for HW with multiple
processors?
If so then the question is will that SMP kernel be well behaved on a
Single processor hardware? I would expect it to be well behaved but
PC hardware sometimes surprises me.

Installation Question
by Ali Helmy
Hey All,
I'm just rather new to FC4, so bare with me please if this question is
rather dumb & silly. I have a Windows XP Professional system, that boots
directly from the HDD, now I have downloaded the FC4 DVD image from the
website, and can mount it on a virtual DVD-ROM, like Daemon Tools.
Now, I do not have a DVD or CD writer, so is it possible that I can install
FC4 without having to burn those images, or is it absolutely impossible?
Thanks

Linuxant DriverLoader not happy with Linksys WPC54GX driver
by David Hanger
Hey, I'm having some issues with getting a Linksys WPC54GX (wireless PCMCIA)
working under Fedora (no idea what version). I believe the linux kernel is
2.6.9-1.667 (at least, that version number is in 4 filenames under /boot).
Most of my linux experience is from installation and minimal use of Gentoo
on one of my spare home desktops. This machine I'm having trouble with is a
laptop (HP Pavilion dv4000) I got from my new job the other day. It's a
development machine, so I'd prefer not to have to do any recompiling of the
kernel, if possible, as that would require us to set up each location's
system again. But I can manage it if necessary.
I've gotten as far as to download and install the Linuxant DriverLoader, and
I've uploaded to its configuration page the Windows drivers from the card's
CD. But when it gets to the page that lists your driver info and I believe
the devices connected, it states "No devices found" and asks me to plug in
the device.
I've tried both having the card plugged in from system boot and plugging the
card in after getting to this page. Refreshing as suggested doesn't help.
The driver info it lists, for reference, is as follows:
Driver Vendor Version
aninet Linksys 02/04/2005, 1.4.4.183
I suspect the Kernel Messages hold the key, but I have no idea what to do
about the ntoskrnl errors. I do know, however, that the card works with
this laptop in that card slot, because booting to the WinXP side and
plugging it in prompts me to install, and I connected to my home network
with it.
I imagine this has no relevance to the problem, but it may be worth
mentioning that the laptop has a built-in wireless card (Intel 2200BG) that
I set up with a native driver off sourceforge.net, and it's working fine.
Below is all the text from each attempt by Linuxant to find the device (or
load the driver?). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

RPM question
by Luc MAIGNAN
Hi,
sorry for a so newbie question, but I can't find the answer in the howto
i've read.
I want to build a RPM to install a software i've written. In the .spec,
the %install tag seems to be executed when the rpm is built and not when
i install it. Where can I put code in the spec file to execute it at
installation time ? (rpm -ivh)
Any help would be appreciated
Best regards
