Problem with double-layer dvd+r on fc3 ... rest of info
by William W. Austin
Apologies for following up on my own posting but I left out some
details that might be relevant.
This is in reference to the "new" problem of suddenly being unable to
write double-layer dvd+r disks on my burner (single-layer work fine,
and it writes them fine under windoze).
a) the script basically does:
growisofs -overburn -dvd-compat -Z /dev/hdc=(image file)
b) K3b fails with the same notice that there are only 4173824 blocks
free on the disk, but there are (more than that ~5M) blocks to be
written.
c) If I boot to my previous kernel (2.6.12-1.1378_FC3), I get further
but get the error message:
:-[ SEND DVD+R DOUBLE LAYER RECORDING INFORMATION failed with \
SK=5h/ASC=26h/ACQ=00h]: Input/output error
(above line is manually broken at backslash)
d) The drive is a SONY DVD RW DRU-720A, and it writes 7+GB dl dvd+r's
fine under windoze.
Sorry for leaving out the detals in my first post...
Thanks

PostgreSQL fails on boot, but works fine after logging in...?
by Mike Leahy
Hello list,
I'm not sure if my problem is due to updates, but this problem does
coincide with the 2.6.14-1.1644_FC4 kernel update. On reboot, I noticed
that my PostgreSQL database service fails. However, after I login to
the Gnome desktop, I can execute /etc/rc.d/init.d/postgresql start in a
conosle, and it works fine. What could cause this anomaly?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Firefox 1.5 for FC4?
by Jack Howarth
Any idea when Fedora will upgrade FC4 to the new Firefox 1.5 release?
Hopefully we won't have to wait for FC5 to get that.

DVD image
by Michael
HI, all.
Does any ways to mount a dvd image and other applications can read it
like a real device ?
I mean "emulate", just like cdemu.
Are there any other applications act like cdemu ?
Hope someone can give me a reply.
Thanks.

Package Install Failure - Bad GPG Key?
by Jeremy Thompson
Hello,
I am trying to install some packages onto my FC4 box. Specifically I am
following a mythtv install guide found here:
http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/fcmyth.php
I followed all the commandes (cut/pasted most) and executed the myth-tv
install command :
"yum install mythtv-suite"
It checked dependencies and commenced downloading.
Then it said it didn't have one of the GPG keys and it need to download it.
I clicked "y" and got the following -
-----------------------------------
warning: rpmts_HdrFromFdno: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID db42a60e
Public key for perl-XML-SAX-0.12-7.noarch.rpm is not installed
Retrieving GPG key from file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora
GPG key at file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora (0x4F2A6FD2) is
already installed
The GPG keys listed for the "Fedora Core 4 - i386 - Base" repository are
already installed but they are not correct for this package.
Check that the correct key URLs are configured for this repository.
-----------------------------
Uh, not sure what to do now. I tried 'yum install' again, but got the same
thing.
Thank you,
JT

RE: Suppressing Real Player on RPM downloads
by Nix, Robert P.
Actually, mine points to the Helix plugin. How do you "disassociate" rpm from Helix?

Subject: Re: Suppressing Real Player on RPM downloads
The fault lies in the obsolete association of rpm files with
RealPlayer. This association is provided by one of the multimedia
plugins (not Helix or Realplayer) for the web browser. You can find
out which plugin is at fault by typing "about:plugins" in Firefox's
address bar and looking for the application associate with rpm.

Fedora Core and php 4.4.[01]
by Ken Nordquist
I want to upgrade php to 4.4 from 4.3 but cannot find any rpm's for
Fedora for the x86_64. I saw a security advisory for Fedora which
listed php 4.4, but the directory now has php 5 (which I do not want).
Does anyone know of a repository with Fedora x86_64 rpms for php 4.4?
Thanks,
Ken
