With a WD2500JD sata drive, the FC3 (Nov 2004) installer fails when

any ideas?

Google is your friend.
Take a look at these two links that came up with a search of Linux
midi editor.

tcpdchk and tcpdmatch mystery solved Back in October 2000 both of those
utilities were removed from the RedHat version of tcp_wrappers-7.6 because
those expected to find /etc/inetd.conf and while you can find that on
other flavors of Linux it's not one of Fedora's issued files. Now this is
making some sense.

Up2date perl problem
by Doug Coats
I recently installed FC3 on a AMD64. When I try to run up2date I can
update every package that has ever been displayed but
perl-5.8.5-12FC3:3.
I get a whole screen of errors that resemble.
file /usr/share/man/man1/podchecker.1.gz from install of
perl-5.8.5-12.FC3 conflicts with file from package perl-5.8.5-9
It reports my current perl package as perl-5.8.5-9.
Any help would be really appreciated.

rpm -qi --changelog tcp_wrappers
by Jude DaShiell
response is: package tcp_wrappers is not installed. You would think if a
cut down package were not being used, fedora would be happy to make that
fact known, I think. That's why the warning from the friend I have that
handles stuff like this. I will let him know the results I got tonight
doing that command he'll probably not be surprised. By the way, I've been
told by my friend when you finally do get tcp_wrappers properly installed
and set up one of the things it does is to log all traffic in and out of
all ports on a computer which is why tcp_wrapper's logs stand up in court.
Those have been and are accepted as evidence. I take it probably md5sums
or crc32 checks also happen and become part of those records so that
modification can't be done without also very effectively tampering with
those numbers and log's contexts.
