Hi all,
I finally got around to update the package with wallpapers (after
conquering my laziness, fruitless waiting for hi-res versions and
fruitless waiting for selected supplementary wallpapers list).
Of course, I need karma to push it into Fedora.
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/lovelock-backgrounds-14.91.0-1.fc15
The included pngs are exported from SVG [1] referenced on wiki as I
have found no suitably hi-res PNGs. It took ages, I wonder if my laptop
is just too old... The gnome version appeared on the wiki too late,
since there are multiple changes in progress over the various places, I
think I'll have to wait some more with adding it and setting it default
in gnome.
Plus, what's up with supplementary wallpapers? Looks like we won't have
them in beta ;(
And, I'd like to provide some constructive feedback to the wallpaper
itself for post-beta polish:
* The sky and moon are simply awesome, I like them, the stars might
need adding some details for higher resolution
* The bird has some rendering issue, I wasn't able to fix it in the
SVG and the presented PNGs are have too small resolution to use
* The tree looks great from afar, but in detail it looks odd, perhaps
adding some detail might help
* I don't like the mechanical bird, IMHO the one in gnome version looks
better
* The land is IMHO too simplistic and looks more like quick sketch than
final design, I'm not sure though how to improve it :(
Cheers,
Martin

Hello,
I've edited the comps file, and would like to present it to you folks
for review, before I submit it to the devel list and finally commit it.

Are the "defaults" and "optional" packages all right? Please have a look
and let me know.
Thanks,
Ankur

Hi all,
I've just noticed a few things:
* beta wallpaper is due next tuesday (15th March), same as verified
selection of supplementary wallpapers (submission period is supposed
to be closed already). How are things on this front?
* initial anaconda, firstboot and splashes are due next tuesday as
well. Anyone working on these?
Plus, we've got a bug in bugzilla that our wallpaper isn't default in
gnome in F15. This brings out the following question: how things stand
with desktop team? Are we supposed to leave the gnome 3 default
wallpaper untouched there or are we going to use our wallpaper there as
well?
Cheers,
Martin

Hello design team.
I'm updating fedoraproject.org features page to match changes made in Fedora
15. I've already updated Empathy and Rhythmbox icons, and changed
OpenOffice.org logos and name to LibreOffice.
There are two things that I still need, and I think you might be able to
help:
1) A screenshot of the new clock/calender of gnome-shell
2) We have a paragraph there about slideshow backgrounds. Do we have one of
these in Fedora 15? If so, is it default? is it in the supplementary
backgrounds package?
That's all for now.
Thanks.

Greetings Design team!
Today, the QA team hosted the second of four beta blocker review
meetings to review status of proposed and accepted bugs. One of the
accepted beta blockers is a left-over from the Alpha and involves using
a more friendly generic artwork, or Fedora 15 final artwork during
installation and firstboot.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=677080
I've observed recent discussions on the list regarding the upcoming
final artwork preparation, it's exciting to see that coming together.
Is that artwork intended to resolve bug#677080, or will more generic
artwork be used to satisfy that issue?
Please note, that the Beta 'test compose' is scheduled [1] for Tuesday,
March 22. Ideally, the test compose will include the desired Beta
artwork so we have a chance to validate before the Beta release
candidate. Please advise if the artwork needed to resolve bug#677080
will not be ready in time.
Thanks,
James

Hi all!
The call just opened for for all artists and developers in the open
source graphics to submit presentation ideas for this year’s Libre
Graphics Meeting (LGM) in Montreal from May 10th to 13th - [1]. To
submit a talk proposal, add you idea to the page on the create wiki -
[2]. Interested about what goes on at an LGM? check out all the videos
from LGM 2010. [3]
I am going to propose a talk on publican (the publishing toolchain
that fedora docs uses). Anyone else have any ideas for talks?
Cheers,
ryanlerch

About LGM:
" The Libre Graphics Meeting exists to unite and accelerate the
efforts behind Free, Libre and Open Source creative software. Since
2006, this annual meeting is the premiere conference for developers,
users and supporters of projects such as GIMP, Inkscape, Blender,
Krita, Scribus, Hugin, the Open Clipart Library, and the Open Font
Library who are gathered to work on interoperability, shared
standards, and new ideas. Work at prior LGMs has pushed the state of

sharing of assets, and common interchange formats." --from the LGM

Hi,
I have worked a couple of hours on a slide-show theme for Fedora. I know
it's not soooo Fedora-ish, but maybe you've got some ideas to improve it?
I chose not to use impress, but make it a one-file SVG with the slides,
export them as png's and compile those to a PDF. This give me an opportunity
to make some more fancy effects. This could also be used as a template for a
Fedora presentation-video for big-screens in Fedora booths as events. Maybe.
Hope you like it.

(crosspost: I hope everyone here isn't too upset to possibly get this
three times)
Hi all,
As you probably know, I've been hanging around Fedora for a few years
now. I helped improve the events that Fedora attends by creating the
Fedora EventBox. It's been going really well, but this week, I saw a
big improvement because of just a few people at SxSW. I would like to
thank Mo, Emily, Spot, Jared and anyone else who helped make the booth
there awesome!
If you haven't seen the booth, that's okay, but here's a few pictures
of what is going on:

In our Fedora Ambassadors North America (FAmNA) meeting tonight, I
followed-up a short email by Max, asking about what thoughts others
had and improvements could be made to make this a regular thing at our
events throughout Fedora. I came up with a few things about how we
could improve it and make it feasible for North America. I'm sure
there are ideas for other regions as well, so feel free to join in the
discussion.
Now, the reason I figured marketing and design should be involved is
that they have a large say in how things are designed and how we tell
people why Fedora's important. I think there's an opportunity here
for better collaboration too, so please, please, please, feel free to
improve upon the ideas I'm going to propose.
First off, the photobooth idea is amazing. I'd like to say that we
should be doing something similar at every event, encouraging people
to get their pic taken at our booth. But making someone where a
costume for 2-3 days could be challenging. So I propose we build a
portable photo board[1] to include in Event Boxen. Probably of
something more goofy, I actually thought the Beefy Miracle[2] would be
a good choice, since it's easy to come up with.
In addition, one would need a web cam and a dedicated laptop to take
the pictures and upload them. This should be an easy to-do. Having a
web cam could prove invaluable for other things as well, like doing
mini tutorials.
Logistically, this could be a bit challenging when you have only an
8'x8' space, but this can be handled pretty easily. One way is to
move the table and chairs to one side and stand in the booth, or sit
behind (tightly) the table and work from there. The other half of the
booth could easily be used to take pictures and show off our cool
stuff!
But there's more we can do with this, and that's where I think the
value lies. For one, it is cool that each participant get's a nice
little card printed right there with a QR code so they can go retrieve
it. But it would also be nice to let them share their photos on
social networking sites like Facebook, identi.ca, foursquare, twitter,
etc. I can also see gaining contributors from this concept, in that
they are now 'part' of Fedora's legacy. Maybe having them show up on
the FedoraProject front page when an event is happening? I seriously
think that this is stuff that everyone in Fedora would love.
Anyway, I'm sure I have more ideas, but I hope some of you can help
with more great ideas that I know I won't. Please help us build a
better booth and better Fedora presence at events all over the world!
Cheers,
Clint
PS - Vote for beefy miracle as the F16 code name. That's my pitch, and
I'm sticking to it!
