[diversity] introduction Renate extensive
by Renate renate
Hi again,
Maybe I should introduce myself more extensive. I've also joined the
Telegram group.
I was interested in contributing to Fedora because some people in my
network had interest in Linux but did not know how to start. I love Fedora
(and think it's a great OS for new users) so I wanted to help them but did
not find enough Dutch articles for them to read. Also because their
knowledge of a computer is really really basic. Then I saw that linux and
Fedora in particular, has way better accessibility for disabled people then
other operating systems. I use Linux since about 13 years so I didn't know
how big the difference was. I didn't get why healthy people don't use a
Linux-variant but now I know how much Fedora can mean for you if you have a
disability I really don't know why people hesitate. It can bring so much!
So I want to write some really easy howto's in Dutch about Fedora and
publice them on my site. That made me wonder if I couldn't join some other
contributors. And here I am!
Still getting my way through all this, takes a while but easy does it :)

[diversity] FWD event page wiki + budget ticket idea
by Justin W. Flory
Hi all,
I had a chance to go through the meeting minutes and saw some of the
discussion about requesting event organizers to create wiki pages and
file budget tickets for their events in the Diversity Pagure. I think
this will help, but I thought it might be helpful for us to save time
and effort by trying to follow the existing Ambassador event guidelines
as much as possible. They are somewhat different from region to region,
but I think we can follow a standard format.
Before event organizers come to us with a budget request for an event, I
would like to suggest a minimum set of requirements before requesting funds.
(1) Completed wiki page with key event details, including:
* Date, location, time
* Short agenda / itinerary
* Deadlines for organization, if any
* Summary of budget (see below)
(2) Estimated total budget for event, including:
* Shipping costs
* Merchandise production costs, if any
* Travel funding, if any
* Basic event costs (e.g. food / drinks)
* Other misc. costs
(3) Short explanation of what an organizer hopes to accomplish with
their event
Most of these guidelines follow the existing process for most regions,
so it will also be more familiar for Ambassadors who are organizing a
FWD event. Also, maybe even more importantly, it helps _us_ with
reviewing these tickets and sets a precedent for how the events are
organized.
As an example wiki page, you can see one from an event I organized in
2016. There's more specific details that we wouldn't need for our event,
but you can probably get the idea:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/RIT_BrickHack/2016
I'd be curious to know what others think about this idea. If it sounds
good, I would be able to work on an event template over the weekend,
which we could then share with event organizers.
If the Community Blog is back up and working soon…
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/infrastructure@lists.fedora...
…we can include a link to the wiki template with the post on Monday, so
event organizers can have this when they start their own planning process.
Thoughts?
