In case people is uncomfortable with a 1x1 talk, then we could set a
private irc channel or something, (only invitation as per email request)
and people could sit at the table and chat, but being close with the

feel too comfortable talking, but is more comfortable with chat. This
kind of chats could also be conducted before/during/after flock just to
maintain the flow of info.
I like this idea too. I think we can split it from the Flock
brainstorming and plan it for the next year. This could also be a great
question to ask during the 1x1 interviews, if people think they would
take advantage of something like this if we took the time to set it up.
Following discussion in other communities about engaging more people in
D&I efforts, this could be a useful way to build more feedback loops
into this team.
Tatica, do you plan to attend Flock this year? Would you be
interested
in organizing and leading this? Let us know – I am happy to support and
be a part of this idea with you. :D
I would love to, I'm not gonna lie... but I've been away from the
community for so long that I don't know if I could deserve the expenses.
Living in my country makes me need full funding and probably someone who
has been contributing on a more regular basis could use better the
money. If somehow the proposal looks attractive enough, and my
background experience can be useful to organize the sessions,
information and such, then I would love to go. However, I would rather
to leave that decision to the Diversity Team itself.
The D&I team needs a broad range of people helping and participating to
have the strongest impact. You brought this idea to the table and I
think you have the inspiration and motivation to see it through too. I
want to do what I can to support you in making this happen!
Please don't fall victim to imposter syndrome! The Flock staff consider
a broad range of criteria when making funding decisions. Your past
experience and knowledge of the Fedora community also brings a lot to
the table and I have a feeling you would not be sitting idle for the
conference. ;) Please consider to apply for travel funding. It would be
awesome to see you there and have all that you bring to the project and
community. :)
