======================================================================= = Quick Summary = ======================================================================= (1) Would changing the meeting time help attendance? (2) Would lengthening the meeting by 30min help productivity? (3) Are there other ways we can improve our meetings? =======================================================================
Hey everyone,
During our meeting today, we had a brief discussion towards the end about our meeting times and whether they are effective. For the past few meetings after the FAD, activity hasn't been consistent. In February, our meetings had seven attendees, but across March and April so far, our meetings have been between 3-5 active participants.
The past few months have been busy for a lot of people for different reasons, but we were thinking it might be helpful to check in and see what people are thinking about the existing meeting time. Would it be helpful to move it to a different day or time? Is there something that would help make the meeting time more accessible?
We were thinking two things today in the meeting:
(1) Possibly finding a new time (2) Extending meeting time slot by 30 minutes
We're most effective when we have active participation and we have sufficient time to cover our topics. We would be interested to know what you all think about this and if a new time would work well. If you have any other feedback on how to make our meetings more accessible or engaging? Please let us know your thoughts. :)
Thanks!
I find irc meetings about some of these things to be a little bit of an obstacle at times, maybe considering bluejeans meeting about the more difficult topics could help too? (Just throwing in an idea...)
As far as my availability goes, I'm okay with the day and the time.
Best regards, Radka

I liked the idea (a lot). Lets do it in this way -
1. We start meeting on IRC 2. Give out link of blue jeans so that anyone can join in 3. We will record the meeting in Blue jeans (which can serve as logs) 4. We will take note/write down (major highlights of meeting) on IRC as well during the discussion 5. We will publish blue jeans recording link and the IRC notes as meeting MOM.
If this works for everyone, lets make it a practice for every alternate meeting.
Thanks, Amita
Best regards, Radka

I like this outline too, and it also ensures that we are still documenting important points via IRC too. So long as we actively remember to add important notes into IRC, I see this as a good compromise too, for people who may want to participate but are limited by bandwidth for an audio/video call.
I suggest we make this change for the May 3rd meeting (and also adjust our time back to 12:00 UTC, starting on April 19). I will adjust the time in Fedocal for this now.
Best regards, Radka
