Wait! # locate foomatic-rip /usr/local/bin/foomatic-rip /usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip /usr/share/man/man1/foomatic-rip.1.gz /usr/bin/foomatic-rip /home/jmccarty/downloads/drivers/hpijs-2.1.4/foomatic-rip I wonder if hpijs-2.1.4 could be uninstalled and reinstalled, or just that file copied, and it would work? Well, I just did # make install From /home/jmccarty/downloads/drivers/hpijs-2.1.4/foomatic-rip and a test page now prints. I just tried printing this e-mail, and out it came! Oh frabjous day! Calloo! How to debug fedora hanging after upgrading from rh9

Hello, I have just rebuilt a box that had been running rh9 in a production env (apache and tomcat) for about 3 years. I just rebuilt it with fedora 4 ( repartitioned and formatted ) There is nothing in the message log file. How is the best way to debug this? Are there other log files i can look in? this is a production box and has been running ok for 2 days and since 6 tonight it has hung 3 times. I go to the console and there is nothing and it is completely hung Thanks for any help Randy

I bought a Dell laptop that was supposed to have a 1.86GHz processor. speaking of grepping shift-jis, anyone familiar with lv/lgrep?

http://www.die.net/doc/linux/man/man1/lv.1.html claims to do multilingual grep. Guess I'll check packages and see if I can yum it. Or maybe even just man lv pleasant surprise. Well, maybe. Looks like I'll have to wrap it in some perl to get recursion.

I need to upgrade a redHat 7.3 box to a FC4. Has anyone experience of this kind of upgrading ? Is there a real ascendant-compatibility (I use several Perl programs and apache web sites (mod_ssl, mod_perl,)...) Thanks

Hi, Ok, I have to admit, I have not been playing close attention to this discussion, but what I have seen has raised a question for me. I would like a clarification. Do I, as an end user have the right to install non-GPL software (e.g. RealPlayer) on my Linux box if it links to GPL software? Can I install non-GPL software which links to anything it wants to on my computer? Is it legal for non-GPL software distributors (RealPlayer, et. al) to furnish software to me which links to GPL software? Wouldn't it only be a problem if I were to somehow redistribute the non-GPL--GPL software combination? In other words, can non-GPL distributors (again RealPlayer for example), give me whatever software they want to, which links to whatever it wants to, as long as I, the end-user, do not distribute the resulting GPL-non--GPL combination? hi list i m wondering that my cgi scripts are being access denied, i thin kits matter of suexec but i m not finding any help about how to use it i placed SuexecUserGroup mine mine but when restarting it says configuration broken, ignoring restart is it a wrong placement of directive Regards Azeem
