Actually I like this one better, probably due to its more vibrant
colors. However, compared with Alpha I feel the trails edges are a bit
to strong, they should be blurred a bit (as they were in Alpha).

Also, I know we wanted to avoid a possible clash with the Debian
swirl
logo, but from a composition point of view the counter-clockwise trails
work better: your attention enters the composition normally from the
left and is lead gently by the trails to the point of interest. With the
new composition it clashes: my attention is taken from the bottom-left
and driven into an edge at the top, then a very short trail from right
to the point of interest.
+1 and I think the clockwise version feels a bit awkward.
Let's go back to the Alpha composition and live with the possible
Debian
resemblance (which really isn't).
Actually, the Debian swirl is clockwise [1]...
