Hello!
I'm Niharika Shrivastava and I am extremely willing to help shape
Fedora's D&I vision.
Welcome to the Fedora D&I Team mailing list! Happy you are here. :)
1. I feel the resources aim at people who want to directly help
with the D&I cause (i.e, mentor, hold outreach events and
campaigns, collaborate across teams). But there are no "go-to"
resources if someone wants to indirectly help the cause (maybe
because they're not up to taking leadership roles yet) like (but
not limited to):
1. Participate in Outreachy.
2. Participate in ongoing FWD events across the world.
3. Want to create content for the D&I team (e.g. posters,
documentation, revamp websites) solely for exposure and
learning purposes.
The D&I team docs are not really updated at the moment. If you could
open a ticket and propose to add this to docs (along with other edits
you see fit), I think it would be a very valuable contribution! The Make
Your First Steps
section seems like a good fit to me for 2,3. Regarding 1, I feel it
should be a separate section in our docs where we talk about our
participation in program, previous Fedora Outreachy interns and their
experience i.e. CommBlog posts. Some of the content for this can be
sourced from here.
Docs are a great place we could look at for updates. We have a few
already highlighted in our Pagure:
https://pagure.io/fedora-diversity/issues?status=Open&tags=type+-+docs
Tickets #116, #120, #122, and #138 are probably good places to start.
1. The website talks about bi-weekly scheduled meeting but the
calendar is empty (is this expected?).
Due to different time schedules of members and the global pandemic, it
has been difficult to find someone to organize and chair the meetings.
Would you be interested in chairing them? Another option to discuss any
issues or questions is to just post them on Telegram or IRC as most of
us are active there and will reply.
Also, anyone is welcome to chair the meetings! What this means is taking
responsibility to prep a meeting agenda in advance, start the IRC
logging with zodbot, take notes, and help watch the clock so we don't
spend too long on one topic. We can also rotate the chair if multiple
people are willing to help out.
I could chair one, maybe two, meetings a month.
