Compiling against gtk2
by Peter Robinson
Hi All,
I'm having trouble compiling things against gtk2 due to the move of
the includes.
It seems to affect at least libnotify and gdk-pixbuf and anything that
links against them. As well as includes within gtk2 itself.
I filed a bug (originally against gdk-pixbuf but moved to gtk2 as it
seems to have the problem, I'm not sure the best way to fix this but
its causing me problems all over rawhide.

Re: desktop Digest, Vol 77, Issue 6
by Hristo Petkov
Hi Guys,
RE: The Desktop
I have a question which I don't dare to ask.
What is the idea of making things that have already been done around the world instead of pulling out the f4l (flash for linux) project from 'ground zero' where it is 'mulled for years on end'.

Hi, folks. From a QA angle, I'm just wondering - what's the big desktop
plans for F14? Are we going to be rolling out GNOME 2.30 / 3.0 with this
release? Are there any particular areas where it'd be good to have a
Test Day, or could we even take a Test Week to focus on shiny new GNOME
stuff like GNOME Shell?
Thanks!

I was wondering about the state of what was planned for the various
desktops. I've not seen features for the latest GNOME/KDE/LXDE/XFCE
and I presume most of those would have new major releases out.

I have been using https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/Gnome3 to
track what needs doing for GNOME, but I don't really have the resources
to do a great job on the Fedora side of this.

Thankfully, we have LibRaw, and unique taken care of, and shotwell 0.6.1
is in rawhide now. But I still need review for
609175 gtksourceview3
611010 webkitgtk3
and there is an increasing number of updates that blocks on the
(non-)availability of these 2 libraries: yelp, devhelp, gedit, seed,
gnome-games,...

These are a pair of audio and video editors by the same guys who brought
us shotwell. Reviewers welcome,

some help needed
by Matthias Clasen
Hey, I am trying to get GNOME 2.31.4 into rawhide, and could use some
help.
There are some reviews that need to happen:
609175 gtksourceview3 (this blocks building gedit against gtk3)
602279 LibRaw (this blocks building shotwell 0.6)
And there are some more libraries that we need to pacakge
parallel-installable gtk3 versions for:
unique3
vte3
webkitgtk3
Any help appreciated,
Matthias

Hi,
There are speech packages in the repository lists.
System ->Administration -> Add/Remove Software
In the search box write: speech
and take a look at the packages developed so far.

Hi All,
I know it was discussed about using speech dispatcher as part of the
accessibility layer in gnome-3, I'm not sure if this was ever used and
wondering if anyone can give me the current status. I'm the current
maintainer of it by default due to sugar having used it for quite a
while. I'm looking at upgrading it to the 0.7 release which improves a
few things like PA support but I wanted to make sure I'm not going to
break other stuff in the process. I've also been made aware of some
other issues with KDE's use of it that I hope to fix as well as part
of that.
Cheers,
Peter

Features/PolkitAgentReorg - FedoraProject
by Christoph Wickert
What is the status of
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/PolkitAgentReorg ?
If this should become a feature of F14, the wiki page needs to be
updated ASAP so that the feature wrangler can look at it before handing
it over to FESCO.
FWIW the wiki page is contradictory:
> The individual agent implementations will no longer provide autostart
> desktop files. The policy decision which agent to start rests with the
> desktop environment, which can either hardcode the start of the agent
> or install an autostart desktop file.

So the agent gets hardcoded somewhere in the desktop environment, but
the users can choose freely? Huh? IMHO the simplest way to select the
agent is to use the session properties because all desktops have a
configuration dialog for this. Therefor we need the autostart files.
Last but not least I'd to say that IMHO this hardly meets the criteria
for a feature.
Nether me nor Jaroslav got any replies to our last mails after I started
a discussion about this back in April, so I just went ahead and built
lxpolkit. Please speak up if something breaks for you.
Regards,
Christoph
