[Fedora-marketing-list] Short info about Linux Solutions Event (France)
by Armelk (AKServer)
Good afternoon Fedora Community,
the last week we have in France the major event about the Open Source and
Linux (10 000 Visitors).
In this event the major companies are present (RedHat, Novell, Mandriva,
IBM Open Source, Alcove, Bull,...) and in parallel a lot of free
associations or development are present to (Fedora, Debian, Unbutu,
KDE,...)
During this event a lot of French Fedora Ambassadors are present and the
Fedora Users are present to. We have a lot of very interesting discussions
about the future of Fedora, issues, requests, .... It's very interesting
time for the Fedora French community to share the same knowledge and the
same passion.
In the Linux community, we have a very good image and Fedora is a serious
distribution. But the French Ambassador Team doesn't play in the same
division of Unbutu, Debian,... WHY ?
No real support from the Fedora US, we waiting the Fedora DVD and Fedora
T-Shirt. Special thank to RedHat EMA, Frantz Meyer, William Hoffman, for
100 Fedora Core 6 DVD.
This is the second time we have the same issue with the Famsco, lot of
promise but nothing in the acts. The French ambassadors are really
despites.
I cross the fingers for the next event WE have a VERY STRONG SUPPORT from
the Famsco side, for your info, in France during the spring we have a lot
of local events (Install Party, Linux Day,...) and the next major event
for you is the Fosdem/Fudcon and I 'sorry I don't participate at this
event.
Have a nice day.

>
> Today we start the official 'Call for Projects' to exhibit at the
> 13th LinuxTag, May 30 - June 3, 2007 at Messegelände unter dem Funkturm,
> Berlin, Germany. Detailed information can be found at LinuxTag's website
> [1]. Please take a look at our terms and read the FAQ. (An English
> translation of the FAQ will be provided soon.)
>
> The project committee has a very hard job to decide for some projects
> whether they will get a booth (sponsored by LinuxTag) or we have to
> charge them for it because of its strong commercial background. This
> decision is not easy to make and differs in each case, but we try to
> make it fair for everybody. Therefore we have updated the Virtual
> Conference Center [2] with some new questions concerning your projects
> contributors and community. By providing us as much information as
> possible, you can help us to ensure that only non-commercial projects

>
> You should submit your application as soon as possible, because first

> 2. Project Workshops
>
> We would like to remember you not to forget to register for project
> workshops. Similar to the years before we will offer you so called
> "Workshop Rooms". Our plan is to jointly organise a "projects to
> projects program" or "developer to developer program". As last year the
> schedule will be published on LinuxTag's website, so the schedule will
> be announced more widely.
>
> The main purpose for these rooms is to provide attending projects an
> opportunity to talk to other developers (not necessarily from the same
> project) and to go into detail for a larger group than what would be
> possible at the booth. Please note: all workshops will be open to the
> public and will be announced so. In special cases we can make an
> exception, but we would like to discuss this in detail with you, if you
> think a session should be non-public. LinuxTag provides presentation
> equipment and probably Internet connectivity for all five rooms. You can
> register for a workshop using your VCC-account and submit it like a
> paper using category "Project Workshop". Normally a slot is 60 Minutes,
> if your workshop takes longer leave us a note within your abstract. Also
> do so, if you have a preference for the day.
>
> You can neglect the licence because it is not planned to distribute your
> submission (like a paper for the conference program). But please do not

> Please register as soon as possible.
