Fedora Handbook - Call for Native Speakers
by Jiri Eischmann
Hi,
at last year's Flock I announced Fedora Handbook (a "getting started
with Fedora" guide that is printed and can be give away at event etc.).
Because it was created in the Czech community, the original is in
Czech. The handbook was very successful at Czech events, so we
translated it to English, so that it could be used abroad and
translated to other languages.
We have initial English translation, but it's rough and it needs a lot
of proofreading and rewriting which is something that needs to be done
by a native speaker.
It's written in AsciiDoc, easily readable and editable format: https://
github.com/lukaskotek/fedora-handbook-doc
Any volunteer to help? It'd be great to have it finished and printed
for Flock 2016. All I need is final text, we'll take care of
typesetting and printing.

Trip to Flock
by Natalie Ardasevova
Hi guys!
I'd like to ask for your input: I would like to go to the Flock conference in Krakow at the beginning of August. I need to write a proposal for my (Red Hat) managers to show them the benefits of this trip.
I'm wondering, do you have any journalists on your behalf that will be at Flock? Could I be of any use there to you and write some report/article(s) for your magazine?
Thank you!

Magazine meeting canceled next week?
by Justin W. Flory
Hey all,
I figured it may have been assumed since a lot of us will be not as
available next week due to Flock, but I figured for clarity's sake for
others not around, the Magazine meeting next week is probably canceled,
right? I don't think either myself, Paul, or Ryan will be around to
chair. If so, I can remove the Fedocal event for next week.
Thanks!

[Minutes] [2016-07-27] More shared secrets, F25 talking points, no meeting next week
by Justin W. Flory
Hey all!
At this week's Marketing meeting, we discussed moving forward with the
plans for the shared passwords repository (shout-out to bkp for putting
together the policy proposal on that) as well as putting together the
usual Fedora 25 talking points. A lot of gears are rolling, and we're
going to try to cover both technical and non-technical sides of the
coming changes too. Should be interesting to see how these go!
Also, there is *no meeting* next week due to Flock. We will meet next on
Wednesday, Aug 10, 2016. See you all either at Flock or on the 10th!

There is no downloadable version of the magazine
= Background Analysis =
Some users like to store magazines, and prefer a monthly version where can
read all articles in one publication. The main idea is to create a monthly
downloadable version, in different formats like PDF, to publish all the
article of each month.
= Ideas =
* Use a wordpress plugin to automate the creation of the format. Until now
the proposed plugins are:
1. IssueM[[BR]]https://wordpress.org/plugins/issuem/ [[BR]]The good thing
is the autogeneration by date, issue-based publication and simple
configuration. GPLv2 Licence.[[BR]]The cons: no table of content, no
magazine cover, is just: publish this articles and goodbye.
2. PDF Create Station[[BR]]https://wordpress.org/plugins/kalins-pdf-

publication[[BR]]The cons: One guy development make hard to update and get
responses to bugs and issues found in the plugin.

#232: Creating low-hanging fruit tasks

Type: enhancement | Status: new
Priority: critical | Milestone: Fedora 24
Component: Internal operations | Severity: urgent
Keywords: | Blocked By:
Blocking: |
---------------------------------+------------------------
= Problem =
The Marketing project does not always communicate well the work we are
doing in terms of filed tickets and other recurring tasks. To help new
contributors get involved, more "easyfix"-style tasks should be created
that any contributor of varying experience would be able to take on.
= Analysis =
Creating these kinds of tasks will make it easier for people to get
involved and slowly work their way up to other types of tasks. This has
been demonstrated (successfully) by other sub-projects.
= Enhancement Recommendation =
In addition to a "ticket filing frenzy", having a long-term strategy for
this would be helpful. We don't just want to create these tasks for Fedora
24 and then run into the same problem next year. Looking ahead to the
future would be helpful for the longevity of Marketing.
I'm postponing discussing this ticket until after (or maybe during) Flock.

[Magazine] Ideas for new short articles
by Paul W. Frields
I discussed keyword focused articles recently with Rikki Endsley, an
editor for opensource.com. She told me one way to boost visibility,
searchability, and site visits is to target articles directly at the
things people are searching for e.g. on Google.
The http://keywordtool.io site discovers popular searches based on
keywords. I entered "Fedora how to" and here is the list it retrieved
for me:
https://paste.fedoraproject.org/392172/84893614
While some of the searches are not necessarily good ones for a short,
targeted article, many are. I would propose that we use this list to
seed article pitches and assign them to new writers, rather than doing
just arbitrary technical articles which may not perform as well over
the long term.
By the way, Rikki mentioned that titling the article just like a
search can help boost its visibility as well, e.g. "How to start sshd
on Fedora."
