Hi,
I'm a member of G11n in Fedora working mainly on translations and
Zanata (platform we used for translation).
There is a suggestion in the group of seeing the possibility to get
Fedora Magazine localised to reach out more to users.
Hi alex!
We have discussed this in the past, but not much really came of it TBH,
so thanks for bringing this up again! It is defninely something that I
would love to see happen
For initial investigation, few questions I would like to ask,
1) What type file format does Fedora Magazine created in? (Raw format
like txt, po, xml?)
Everything is stored in Wordpress -- the "source" of
the posts could be
classed as a HTML snippet however, which may be able to be placed into
Zanata. There are also a bunch of different plugins for wordpress that
could be investigated to see if we could use those to distribute
localized content (this is where previous discussions focused on IIRC)
2) What is the usual timeframe for QA on the content before it is
publish? (if localised, we might need to schedule QA for translations)
SOme posts
are published straight away, especially the news-style posts
that link to other content. The longer form articles like how-tos and
release announcements usually are ready and waiting for publishing a few
days in advance. There is really no offciial "QA" of posts really yet
however.
3) Is it possible to get a copy of the file for previous Fedora
Magazine? Would like to do some testing on Zanata.
If you log in to the magazine with your FAS account using this procedure
--
http://fedoramagazine.org/logging-into-fedora-magazine-with-fas/ and
ping this thread once you have done that, an editor can grant your FAS
account author status, and you should be able to pull the source for
each post.
The other piece of the puzzle is the localization of the actual theme,
and the source for the theme is available here --
https://pagure.io/fedoramagazine-theme -- i'll need to do some
investigation on both fronts to see how all this works with wordpress.
