fosdem 2012
by Bert Desmet
Hi all,
I just wanted to give a little status update on FOSDEM.
The booth has been ordered, and although the booth will only be confirmed
next month, I'm pretty sure we will get 2 tables again :-)
Who all is planning to go? I'll try to make a wiki page asap (tonight..)
cheers,
Bert

[Event Report] Tux workshop, MindSpark 2011, CoEP, Pune, India
by Shakthi Kannan
Hi,
I had conducted an introductory session on Fedora as part of the Tux
workshop [1], MindSpark 2011 at College of Engineering, Pune [2],
Maharashtra, India on Tuesday, December 27, 2011.
There were hundred participants distributed between the morning and
repeat sessions in the afternoon. I explained about hardware
architecture, system boot sequence, and discussed basic installation
concepts to the participants. I then gave a demo of installing Fedora
using Virtual Machine Manager. I showed them the plethora of F/OSS
software that they can use, and also discussed about Fedora
sub-projects, and basic project/communication guidelines. I have given
them F16 ISO DVD images.
Thanks to Sanket Mehta for working with me for a month in organizing
this workshop.
Few photos taken at the event are available in my gallery [3].

Applying to be a mentor
by Truong Anh Tuan
Hi ambassador fellows,
Cc: FAmSCo and existing mentors,
I am currently supporting some people around me contribute to Fedora.
I would like to support them to be Fedora Ambassadors.
As I know, new Fedora Ambassador should have a mentor. I believe that
I am a good mentor for them. However I need to get approval to be an
"official" mentor before (a chicken/egg situation)
I would like to apply to be a mentor.
After looking around, I know that I need to be nominated by existing
mentors then approved by FAmSCo. Is that right?
I also applying to join into the Mentor group as described on wiki [1].
Which other things I need to be done more?
Thanks for your attention.

About Fedora release dinners after release parties
by Truong Anh Tuan
To: FAmSCo,
Cc: Ambassadors fellows,
In previous times, we have a nice prize for Fedora release party
teams. See: [1], [2].
I think it's really great to give special thanks to those teams
who organize nice release parties and meet all criteria (pictures,
reports, etc.) and to encourage others to do next better ones in
the next releases as well.
This should be a regular prize for all release parties in the
future (also see some discussion in ambassador APAC meeting [3]).
So, dear the new FAmSCo et all,
What do you think? If this just a missing thing in the time of
FAmSCo changing, it should be updated asap.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
