Dear Friends,
I know this is an quite sad thing - but it's true. After many
happenings, and huge amount of work, completing the bid, I would like
to announce that we're decided to withdraw the current bid, in reasons
that so many circumstances are changed - that makes unsure to we could
host at Budapest this time such big event.
Hi Zoltan,
thank you very much for having the courage to write this email. I know
the Hungarian community and you i particular, have put a lot of work and
time and even more passion into this bid, so it was not easy to withdraw
it.
We don't want to loose, but also I think we haven't lost
anything as
we decided to step aside - it's better to not to risk before something
terribly happens. Somebody says it's not a good sign to loose it
again, but we say that we haven't lost anything. It's opposite - we
know how important to learn, and we learn every day a lot. As we grow,
and build our community we always step one at a time, and if I
remember back - we did a lot before, and we have to do afterwards, but
not this time.
I don't think you have lost anything. Quite the opposite: Compared to
last year you have massively improved your bid, you know what counts and
you have gained new experience.
I am convinced that Budapest can host a FUDCon. Your bid showed it meets
all criteria, and other than a temporary lack of manpower or other
unforeseeable problems I cannot think of anything that could prevent it
from happening.
Please apply again next year. I really want Budapest because I think it
is important both for Fedora and the Hungarian community.
Thanks a lot for all your work, Zoltan. You have been growing the
community a lot and I am sure you will continue to do so.
Kind regards,
Christoph
