I'm sending this on behalf of Nicolas Berrehouc, who seems to be unable

From Saturday 6th to Sunday 7th of April, the French Fedora community
was represented by the Borsalinux-FR association at the 20th edition of
"les Journées du Logiciel Libre" (Free Software Days in French) in Lyon,
France. More informations at
https://jdll.org/ (only in french).
The event main theme was "Ecologeek: for a Community Earth".
Lots of Linux distributions and associations were there: Hadoly, Illyse,
LQDN, ALDIL, CoLibre, ./play.it, Debian-Facile, Debian-France, Freeduc,
OtterWays, Il va faire beauf !,TUBA, LALIS, Mageia, Linux & Populus,
Monnaie Libre, Ancestris, Parti Pirate, Solidaires informatique,
Borsalinux-FR/Fedora, GNOME, 0 A.D., La Mouette, Ergodis, Wikimédia,
OSM, Altercarto, April, Alolise, Mozilla, Nos oignons, Framasoft,
Khaganat, Boîtes marquetées, Picasoft, CEMEA, Grand Lyon, Tracim,
XCP-ng, ritimo/Coredem, openSUSE, Haiku, littleBits, LOL, LOV, Clubelek,
Chantier Libre, Jabber-FR.
Behind the booth:
* Nicolas Berrehouc (nicosss);
* Kévin Vaufleury (kvfy);
* (gaia).
On Saturday we talked with 31 people and 23 on the Sunday.
Various questions and comments:
- people who want to quit Windows OS;
What seemed to be their motivation? Free software? Cost? Stability?
Did they have apps they couldn't live without?
- 5 Live-USB boot media from Fedora 29 Workstation and Xfce created;
Cool. Were these done on the Federator?
- 3 people asked for playing under GNU/Linux distributions;
Do you mean games? or what?
- people learned that, unlike other distributions, Fedora was
destined
to have only free software;
- explanations were provided regarding the Red Hat link and the recent
IBM buyout;
- explanations were provided regarding what is a GNU/Linux distribution
and free software;
- thanks from Fedora users for the work done and the quality of the
distribution;
- why we didn’t have goodies for the event.
Why didn't we? I didn't see a mindshare ticket. Did one get missed?
Only goodies we had were the Cheat Cubes from the work of nobrakal
https://nobrakal.fedorapeople.org/cheat_cubes_fr/ and people liked the
principle of this cube.
I've always thought these were good ideas. I wonder if people outside
of France would use them if we printed more.
regards,
bex
Thanks to gaia and kvfy for being here despite the distance of the trip
to assist me.
It was also an opportunity to say hello to bochecha and number80 from
Lyon, misc and Casper present for the week-end and GNOME community at
booth beside to us.
Some media of this year’s event and past editions are available at the

Thanks everyone and see you next year in the same place!
