I searched the site for Plex and didn't find anything. So, I think my first post will be about Plex. Hopefully I'm following guidelines. Here's a link to my pitch:https://fedoramagazine.org/installing-plex-media-server/

Hey Martino,
The pitch seems solid to me, but there are a couple questions I have that may be blockers to writing the article. Is everything needed for setting up a Plex media server available in Fedora (e.g. you don't need to install proprietary software from other places or can you get everything you need with dnf)? I see Plex has a GitHub organization...
...but I wasn't 100% clear if everything needed for Fedora is readily available. There are some legal issues that may be present if we write about certain things, so I wanted to make sure before we give you an "all clear" on writing this.
Thanks!

Other than the Plex software everything should be available with DNF. The Plex Media Server isn't FOSS though and there's third-party executables included with the installer that is licensed through Plex. I can write something else if that's a problem. I like Netdata on Github and could write about that too. Luckily there's no lack of news in the Linux world.

If Plex won't pass perhaps Emby would. They are both similar with Emby being FOSS I believe

Okay, I don't think we could write an article about the Media Server setup or install, but using the client might be something that would still be doable if that interests you (wouldn't hurt for Paul or Ryan to double-check me on that one to be sure).
Netdata sounds like a neat idea for an article. If you have other ideas or want feedback, just let us know and we'll be happy to provide some. :)

Yeah, I can write about the Plex-Media-Player. I took an old machine and turned it into a Plex streaming box that would boot right into Plex with no desktop environment. I originally did it on Ubuntu, but don't see why Fedora wouldn't work since they use QT.
I'd also like to write about Netdata, but I can do that after the Plex streaming box.

I think this idea should be doable. I'll make sure to bring it up with the editing team at tomorrow's meeting if someone doesn't chime in on the list before then.
If you have the time for writing the pitch on Netdata before tomorrow, feel free to try getting that one in and we'll review at tomorrow's meeting too.
Thanks!

The problem with a Plex client article is that Plex requires people to get and build ffmpeg. That may not be legal in some jurisdictions. Maybe we could stick with a different topic?
No problem. I can scrap this one. I'll stick with the Netdata article. Then I'll find something elese. I'm still learning what we can and cannot write about. Pretty much anything that isn't all GPL?
