remember the mission
by Max Spevack
When you put your Ambassadors hat on (as opposed to any of your other
roles in Fedora), remember:
(1) You give a face and a name to Fedora. You are a person, friendly
and approachable. Fedora is big and scary, but you are going to help
make sure that *one person* finds their way through all the confusion
into the place where they can contribute.
(2) You are the glue. You help connect different people in different
parts of the Project, because you are always dealing with people whose
interests are different. You should be eager and happy to work with
other parts of Fedora to solve problems.
(3) People are the key. Everything that we do -- events, budgets, swag,
membership verifications, blogging -- it's all done as an attempt to
make personal connections with folks who either want to use or
contribute to Fedora. Places where Ambassadors get together are one of
the few times that Fedora contributors have an opportunity to meet face
to face (other than FUDCons and FADs).
(4) You are the expert in your region. You understand the culture, the
needs, and the best ways to communicate about Fedora and FOSS in your
region. FAmSCo and other "leaders" in Fedora *work for you*, and need
to listen to what you are saying makes sense. We can't ignore the
global picture, but we need to be flexible in adapting to local needs.
These are things I have been thinking about while reading
ambassadors-list recently.

Presentation for SHSU
by Adam Miller
I am giving a presentation tomorrow for the SHACS (Sam Houston
Association for Computer Scientist) organization here at the
University I attend.
I updated the events wiki and have the upcoming event listed:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FedoraEvents#North_America_Q1
I am also working towards becoming a Campus Ambassador as that role
more suites what I am already doing, but I would also like the be an
ambassador otherwise as I would like to participate in events such as
fosdem and fudcon in the future.
Any feedback and/or questions are welcome.

Before we get too far down the road with this - perhaps we should all
go back and read this thread - this isn't the first time this
conversation has come up - and Joerg was smart enough to reference it.
There are a ton of messages in this thread where we hotly debated the
issue two years ago (I think this was the second time it had been
brought up)
The thread is worth reading. This always ends up alienating people.

Once the event is done, I shall give a complete update of the event and also
mail you the list of people to whom the media has been distribute. I shall
return any excess dvd to you or to Dipanjan. If possible let me know if
anyone else is coming to the event and where and when I can collect the
media provided Dipanjan or Sabatha are not coming.

Help reequired for install fest in Kalyani Govt. Engineering College, West Bengal
by Rangeen Basu
The Linux Users of Kalyani Govt. Engineering College(KGEC) are willing to
organize an install fest. They need support like free media and expertise. I
am willing to help them but I don't have DVDs neither can I arrange for them
right now. If anybody can provide free media then it will be of great help.
Please contact me if anybody has any DVDs or live cds with him. This
saturday is a probable date for the install fest, so need to act fast.
