I think this is an accurate statement. For those of us that have done
a few events we know how things are supposed to work for event, how to
get materials for the event and we don't have as much of a need to
discuss the event in a meeting.
I know for the first Ohio Linux Fest we attended in 2006, I attended
meetings to help get questions answered for that event. This year we
ran the booth again for the Ohio Linux Fest and we just didn't have
many questions - so less need for a meeting.
