nntp (aka, usenet) client in kde?
by Gene Smith
I currently use t-bird with an nntp account pointing to gmane to read
this list and sereral others. Does kde have an nntp client program of
any sort? I don't see it as a possible new account type in kmail. Also,
search with kpackagekit yields nothing with "usenet" or "nntp" that is
kde specific.

SRPMS?
by Gilboa Davara
Hello,
Were can I find the SRPMs kde-workspace-4.9.0-4.fc17.x86_64?
I need to test a bug fix to kwin, will it build (patched) on my local mock
or does it require special mock configuration?

Instant messaging application for KDE 4.9
by Sonic
Hi..
I'm running KDE 4.9 from kde-unstable on Fedora 17. Today, I was
searching in the menus for Kopete and found that it is not installed.
At first I thought it might've been replaced by some other Telepathy
client app. But I couldn't find any in yum list.
Is Kopete still the preferred instant messaging app for KDE?

Qwt 6
by Syam Krishnan
Hi..
This is not directly related to KDE. But any idea why Qwt v6 is not
yet adopted for Fedora?
We're using Qwt 5.2 on RHEL 5, but some of our developers reported
having better results with Qwt 6.

show hidden icons not working?
by Neal Becker
Click on the little up triangle (show hidden icons) displays a list of several
(e.g., battery monitor). But neither left nor right click on the element of the
list seems to do anything. I expected it to open the respective app, as it
would have done if the icon was not hidden.

Request for review - new desktop groups
by Bill Nottingham
As part of https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/ReworkPackageGroups, I've
been working on redoing some of the groups that make up installation choices
in anaconda. The idea is to offer a simpler interface, where the user simply
selects which environment they want to run in, plus options for that
environment.
Based on what's in the kickstart file for the KDE spin, here's what I
have for KDE:
KDE contains:

I welcome any and all sanity-checking/fixing of this, and ideas for
additions/removals. You can open the current F18/F19 comps files and see the
data that makes this up - the 'kde-desktop' environment defines what
groups go into KDE, and which are shown as options, and the groups
referenced there define what packages make them up.
Ideally, once this is firmed up, we can even switch the kickstart in
spins-kickstart to refer to these groups, and retire the old ones. This
way selecting KDE in anaconda for DVD/network installations would provide
the same experience as the Live image where possible.
Thanks,
Bill

Package Maintenance
by Eli Wapniarski
Hi Rex
I was trying to update kde-plasma-translatoid to a newer version. The
newer version is mentioned in the discussion over at:
http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/translatoid?content=97511
It does not seem to be maintained by the original developer.
Anyway, I noticed that I was removed from the package db over at
admin.fedoraproject.org which is OK since I have not been paying much
attention to this over the last little while.
But I thought I would inform you of the newer version.
Thanks
Eli

Curious why vsync on, severely hinders performance?
by Victor B. Gonzalez
Hello,
I got the Nvidia binary 304.32 on KDE 4.9.00 on Fedora 17. KDE desktop effects
run pretty flawless at 100+ FPS no matter what I do **but** the second I
enable vsync on in desktop effect settings, FPS can drop to a choppy 30FPS.
Why does this happen?
Not a solid 30 FPS but a choppy 30 FPS.
With vsync off, no matter what I do the FPS is at or above 100 FPS **but** if
I just enable vsync, performance drops to a near 30 during some effects and
it's very noticeable. I somewhat can't believe it :(
Why could this be happening?
