How to set default session type to Plasma for sddm

Hi How do I set the default session type for sddm to offer to be Plasma? I'm currently getting Gnome Classic? This is F22. Thanks Roderick Johnstone

nntp (aka, usenet) client in kde?

I currently use t-bird with an nntp account pointing to gmane to read this list and sereral others. Does kde have an nntp client program of any sort? I don't see it as a possible new account type in kmail. Also, search with kpackagekit yields nothing with "usenet" or "nntp" that is kde specific. -gene

Looking over some broken deps reports, I came across some old packages: kdebindings smokeqt smokekde qyoto (csharp/mono) kimono (csharp/mono) ruby-qt ruby-korundum perl-Qt Of these, the only one that's not a pure leaf package is perl-Qt (debconf- kde depends on it). any comment or objection to considering orphaning most (all minus smokeqt/perl-Qt) or all of these ? -- Rex

Emacs key binding in KDE Plasma 5?

Just moved from Fedora 21 to F25. Under F21 I had a file ~/.gtkrc-2.0 which contained gtk-key-theme-name = "Emacs" This enabled basic Emacs cursor motion keyboard commands in text input boxes throughout KDE, Firefox, &c. (Outside of input boxes, KDE shortcuts ruled.) How can I get this same behaviour for Plasma 5 w/in F25? From reading around, I've created ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini and inserted [Settings] gtk-key-theme-name = Emacs in this empty file. This has given the desired result in Firefox and Thunderbird, but not w/in arbitrary text boxes in KDE (e.g. Alt-F2). The ~/.gtkrc-2.0 file is still intact, by the way. It seems to have no effect. Any ideas? -Sherman

White spaces in Kmail (dark themes)

Hi, After the recent updates of qt5-qtwebengine there are white spaces in the message window when using a Dark Theme. Another user has just reported this on kde.bugs with a screen shot https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379406 I don't know if it is a kmail or qtwebengine bug or even related to mesa/ nouveau saga. KTorrent IP Filter plugin missing on Fedora 26

problem placing pager in F26 KDE

I have a fully-updated Fedora 26 machine and I use 12 desktops in 4 rows of 3, with the pager sitting just above the (bottom) panel in the lower right corner of the screen. This arrangement has worked in KDE for a long time (and I've had a pager in the lower right corner since I was using fvwm a long time ago, so I want to keep it here). But since I upgraded to F26 (using "dnf system-upgrade"), I've had trouble keeping the pager in that location. It seems to want to be in the lower left. Initially, I couldn't even move it more than about 7/8 to the right along the panel; if I went farther than that, the pager would just snap back to the lower left corner. And though I could move it to the right edge if I kept it far enough above the panel, when I started to move it down, it would shrink to a minuscule size. After killing off the instance of the pager that was running, I've been able to get a new instance to move most of the way into the lower right corner and stay there until I log out. But whenever I log back in, the pager has moved to the lower left corner (even if I lock before logging off widgets). I've created a new user on two different machines and seen the same behavior. A web search didn't turn up any indication of changes in the pager that would affect its location or any other reports of this sort of problem. Does anybody know what's going on? Or how I can get more information? Thanks, George

I have continued to use konqueror instead of dolphin because I can use profiles to have it start up connected to a remote server on specific directories. Now, it seems that that is no longer working since updating to Fedora 26. If I start it as from a command line or from a desktop object it ignores the profile option and opens as a web browser. At least it still opens as a file manager if I make konqueror the default file manager and click on a directory object, like in folder view. Any suggest on how I can get the profile functionality back? Is there another app I can use? Will you please quit trying to force me to use "your way". I have been running and managing RH distributions since RH 4 and I don't need anyone telling me how to use the tools. Which were great, BTW. At least until this release. Please continue finding a ways to make it difficult for noobs to hurt themselves, but in a way that doesn't effect those of us that know how to use the system. I have not been able to be productive since the update to Fedora 26, as I keep running into changes like this and like preventing kwrite from running as root. Look, I know these changes are/were well intended, but that doesn't change the fact that tried and true methods suddenly, without warning, stopped working. KDE is a GUI, and it should work like a GUI for all users and admins. If you hate GUIs for system management, let that be your problem, not mine or other's like me. Emmett

F26 KDE shows 'No batteries available' on my laptop

The output of 'acpi -i' is ... Battery 0: Unknown, 98% Battery 0: design capacity 4577 mAh, last full capacity 3500 mAh = 76% If I remove the power plug, the laptop works fine on battery. But the tray icon shows a red 'x' mark and says 'no batteries available'. Also, the brightness automatically sets to around 70% on evry boot, even if the laptop is connected to AC power outlet. What could be the problem ? I've uninstalled some software from the default installation like kdepim, akonadi, telepathy and also all the apps that depend on kde4 libs. May be I've uninstalled something which is causing this. Can some one help me ?

F26 KDE : Not able to connect to internet through 3G sub dongle

I can see my dongle as HSPA modem and create a new connection in the network configuration gui of KDE. But when I try to connect, it says 'preparing to connect' but can not connect. I've installed gnome-logs and seen that there are some error messages regarding missing 'ppp' plugin for network manager. I've installed Networkmanager-ppp package. Now those errors are gone, but some other errors are coming ... cdc_wdm 2-1.3:3.5: wdm_int_callback - 0 bytes cdc_acm 2-1.3:3.3: failed to set dtr/rts cdc_acm 2-1.3:3.4: urb 5 failed submission with -19 Can some one help me how to debug this ?
