nntp (aka, usenet) client in kde?
by Gene Smith
I currently use t-bird with an nntp account pointing to gmane to read
this list and sereral others. Does kde have an nntp client program of
any sort? I don't see it as a possible new account type in kmail. Also,
search with kpackagekit yields nothing with "usenet" or "nntp" that is
kde specific.

kde builds for el6 status update
by Rex Dieter
Quick status update on el6 kde builds hosted @ kde-redhat repos...
* I moved the kde-4.10.x stuff from kde-unstable to kde-testing, finally.
* Over the past couple of says, started working on kde-4.11.x builds,
should be showing up in kde-unstable real soon, as soon as I work my way
through the last batch of stuff that doesn't build cleanly:

Enjoy.

kde-plasma-nm - testing builds (only F20)
by Jan Grulich
Hi,
we've prepared testing builds of kde-plasma-nm including libnm-qt and libmm-qt libraries in COPR repository [1]. The testing version includes a new design and few bugfixes and it is almost ready for stable release, we are just polishing its design. If you want to try it, just add the COPR repository and run update of kde-plasma-nm together with libnm-qt and libmm-qt and you also need to update NetworkManager from updates-testing repository (currently there is NetworkManager-0.9.9.0-29.git20140131.fc20).
Positive or negative feedback is welcomed. Thanks.

I think you mean hal-storage-addon ? There's currently no dependency on
this, I only added
Requires: hal
(oops, I'll fix that).
Syam,
try
yum install hal-storage-addon
and restart the box. This should help.

That should be handled by hal on rhel6, does
/etc/kde/env/SOLID_HAL_LEGACY.sh
exist on your box?
Does this do the same for you?
$ echo $SOLID_HAL_LEGACY
1
Is the hal service running?
$ service haldaemon status
hald (pid XXX) is running...

KDE 4.11 on RHEL6 - Optical disks not recognised
by Syam Krishnan
Hi,
I'm using KDE 4.11 (4.11.2, if I remember correctly) build from
Fedora-KDE-SIG (thanks) for RHEL6. After a fresh installation, I am finding
that optical disks are not recognised by KDE.
When I insert a CD/DVD, it is not listed by Device Notifier (USB disks work
fine) and also not in 'Places' panel of Dolphin. There is no direct way of
accessing the disk from KDE.
I can manually mount the disk from a terminal without issues.
I tried the same in GNOME and it detects the disk automatically.
Any ideas on where the issue might be?

latest KDE update on Fedroa 20 unstable
by Peter Ilott
I clicked the "updates are available" button on my Fedora 20 system this
past w/e, and now the KDE is unstable (Kwin
reports unstable). It blanks the screen sometimes. Seems to be related
to use of Dolphin.
Any suggestions ? How can I tell the version of KDE on my system ? (Yum
-list |grep kde perhaps ?)
How can I return to the previous version ?
Is there a problem with Dolphin ? I have seen other wierd behavior with
it on this new setup.
Peter
