If you hit "ALT+F2" you should get a text console.
If you can't login from there the problem may not be the GUI, you may have a runaway process, or processes, eating up memory or cpu.

Is it not clear in my previous emails that I am behind lock screen? You can't start KRunner/Alt+F2 when your system is locked.
Both of the time my KDE box did it I directly went to tty and ran htop. There was no process misbehaving.
I think I mentioned it here in the past; I remember something like this osme time ago, before Qt 5.6 and Plasma 5.6 and some kernel/drm versions (not sure which one fixed it). I could type again in the lock screen window after sending a SIGHUP signal to kscreenlocker (kill -HUP). Maybe it could help, maybe not.
