Python >= 2.6
by Anne Wilson
For two days now I've been told that I should update policycoreutils, but I
can't.
python >= 2.6 is needed by package policycoreutils-gui-2.0.57-16.fc10.i386
(updates-testing) : Success - empty transaction
Where will I find this python >=2.6?

Oh well. I reported it yesterday.

Then I really don't know how to set up anything. Akonadi insists on linking to
an ics file for calendar and a vcf file for addressbook.
How do I NOT use the compat resources?

Activating the update notifier
by Anne Wilson
An F10 user says
<quote>
i am using kde 4.2 and was wondering where the update notifier is for
the system tray... i see kpackage-kit looking for updates periodically
however when there are updates there isn't an icon in the system tray...

What does he need to activate the notifier applet?

hp-setup on Fedora 10/4.2
by Anne Wilson
I am trying to run hp-setup on my netbook but get "error: Unable to load Qt4
support. Is it installed?" What package am I likely to be missing? hplip is
installed and I have not met this problem on other boxes.

Korganizer delete difficulty
by Petrus de Calguarium
I have set akonadi up to use an ics file as a compatibility resource. This
seems to be the proper way to do it. All my todos, appointments and birthdays
and their associated reminder alarms all work as they should.
However, when I complete a todo or an appointment has passed and I wish to
delete it from my calendar, regardless of whether I choose delete or archive
to a file, upon restarting korganizer, the deleted entries are back! I cannot
get rid of them.
Is this a known bug or have I set something up wrong?

Shutdown doesn't
by Anne Wilson
Starting yesterday, I can't shutdown from kickoff. The screen goes greyscale
and gkrellm shows no activity at all - but nothing happens. A click on the
desktop brings back the colour and gkrellm continues as though nothing had
happened. The only way I can shut down is to do it from a root konsole.
Any suggestions for where to start looking?

Multimedia settings mysteries
by Patrick O'Callaghan
I installed 4.2 from updates-testing. On configuring Multimedia (under
Settings) I find:
1) Only audio is configurable, not video. Don't know if that's
intentional and for the moment it doesn't matter.
2) The various audio categories all show the following list of devices:
HDA Intel (STAC92xx Analog)
default (lower-case 'd')
hw:0,0
Default (upper-case 'D')
PulseAudio Sound Server
<nothing> (i.e. an icon with no text)
3) Despite repeated attempts to push the PA option into first place, as
soon as I close the dialogue it goes back to where it was.
4) The Test button sometimes works, but usually just quits the Settings
dialogue, with no error message. It doesn't seem to depend on which
device one is trying to test.
5) Music works via Amarok. Videos played with vlc or kaffeine are
silent. This used to work with 4.1.4.
6) (This is actually an old complaint, but what the hell): I can't seem
to get the Kmix 'loudspeaker' icon to appear. Instead, I get a thing
that looks like a sheet of paper tilted at an angle and with some
indecipherable blue stuff on it. This has been happening for years, but
I just thought I'd mention it :-)
