login managers generally parse the contents of:
/usr/share/xsessions/*.desktop
to generate the list.
Apparently the one I have (on host kt880) doesn't like something it's finding:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 143 Apr 11 05:07 awesome.desktop
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 195 Aug 16 06:13 dwm.desktop
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4882 Aug 22 13:29 kde-plasma.desktop
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 7358 Aug 22 13:29 kde-plasma-safe.desktop
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 198 Aug 17 19:06 openbox.desktop
Two oother hosts (big41, gx62b) have those exact same two kde* files and
produce expected (unthemed KDM) greeter choices.
Hmm, kt880's F21 has same files and problem. Its F20 has same problem, with
those kde* files same sizes, but different timestamps. All three
installations originated via Anaconda-19.30.3-1 13 June 2013.
I tried stripping the alternate lang lines from those two files (F20), but it
had no impact I could discern.
Any suggestions what to try, short of fresh installations, to make KDE
sessions show up in the greeter's session selection menu on this host?
