Anyone know of a Fedora/Xfce table out there? I will
need a least one USB port, one Ethernet port, and
I need it to read notes from my USB stick and to
test Internet connections at customer sites.
I was looking at the release cycle dates which are aimed for 1 May
(may Bank Holiday) and 31 Oct (Halloween).
F18 came out this month (instead of November 2012) - i installed F17
in December thinking i was installing the latest version (ok it was
but not what i thought). I assume there were problems to be overcome
or is it released quite often a couple of months late.
I have problems with the install of Fedora 18 XFCE live cd runs fine
but when install hangs early in the election of language and does not
continue with the installation settings my pc is dell optiplex g270
pentium 4, 32bit is really weird because I have installed Fedora 17
now and runs great

Most of my PCs run xfce4 under F17 (fully updated); they've been
having mouse- a/o keyboard troubles lately, and sometimes also display
troubles, for all of which my usual suspect is my KVM switch or its
So I shut everything down, took each PC off the switch, connected
all the peripherals directly, and ran it for about a week.
Today I put everything back. Now PC #1 has a weird trouble, even
though it does see all the peripherals.
The workspace switcher lets me tell it I want 16 or 18 spaces,
but it shows only four of them down on the panel, and won't let me get to
any but the first.
Also, although the apps I have running do respond, I can't move
their windows around, nor even change which is on top.
I'm guessing that metacity, or maybe nautilus or thunar, may have
some bug somewhere. How do I get to the config files for those and
experiment with them??

Death is not evil. Suffering is evil.
I've just installed Fedora 18 Xfce and I have some issues: I don't
know yet if they ar bugs. Here is the first one.
LightDM doesn't unlock GNOME-Keyring. After I log in, first time a
password is needed, I am prompted again.
Is this a bug? Should I install some pam packages or do some magic?
Fedora 18 Xfce, Czech locales, the Graphics menu category is not
translated (I mean the name of the category, not the content of it).
Does anyone know where are the translations taken from and what
component is responsible for this? I would like to report it on
Bugzilla, but I have no idea, what component I should assign it to.
Thanks for any help.
I'm new to Fedora having used xubuntu for 5 years. I installed the F17 xfce
last night and found there were over 500 updates and this seemed to take much
longer than xubuntu. Does rpm take longer than deb distros for updating. It
would seem to me that yum is a more complex app and thus could take longer.
I did a google last night and noticed that some folk install apt/synaptic for
package management - has anyone done that? any problems (because i'm about to
your issue is no bug and not any crap. That's a systemd feature and an
already upstreamed feature request for Xfce.
But be aware that there is a work around. It has been discussed
already on this list and on the xfce upstream list.
You can prevent systemd from taking power management action via the
configuration file /etc/systemd/logind.conf :
$ grep Handle /etc/systemd/logind.conf
Set the wished option to the "ignore" value after the = charachter
and remove the comment marker #. For instance,
$ man logind.conf
