I think Tim was talking about the Splash Screen when KDE starts?
And yes they are all quite basic looking now with no option now to download
new splash screens
after the bug last year that it took virtually forever was gone i
disabled that splash screens just because while the desktop is
initialized in background i can already enter my passphrase for the
ssh-key shortly followed by kwallet and firefox which is in autostart
that way the whole "login and ready to work" is way faster (disclaimer:
5 years old machine and it takes a few seconds)
