qt-4.5.1 in kde-redhat/testing

qt-4.5.1 will land in kde-redhat/testing soonish.

Feedback encouraged... we're seriously considering putting this into 
F-11, but we need sufficient testing.

I'm seeing some real funky rendering issues on my f11 laptop with 
qt-4.5.1, so unless you're willing to possibly manually downgrade qt, 
you may want to be a little wary here.

Wierdness includes kickoff/lancelot sometimes appearing as an empty 
box/frame.  resizing other plasma applets seems to make them partially 
transparent (cool looking, but different than before with qt-4.5.0)

If someone can confirm this badness, I'll move this to unstable in the 
meantime.

So, the same question: Does the whole KDE need to be recompiled
against this version of Qt?

No, qt-4.5.1 is supposed to be both API and ABI compatible with qt-4.5.0

Kickoff is OK, Plasma applets resizing too. And even Konvi 4 is now OK - 
rendering issues are gone. Gfx is NVidia...

I had this issue before but not as severe as it is now. In any case this 
counts as a minor nuisance.

I see the issue with the transparency. I agree with you that this is a cool 
looking when compared with qt-4.5.0. Also in general the graphics look better. 
I know that it is difficult to quantify this but it really looks better. :-)

My only issue with the update, that you have not reported is that X is taking 
a large % of cpu time (85-95%). I have an ATI r300 and I am using rawhide.

Before testing I had changed to level 3 and then back again to level 5.

Until we can get a better handle on these issues, I'm moving qt-4.5.1 to 
kde-redhat/unstable instead.

On this F10 box all seems fine so far, Nvidia mobo and GFX card rpmfusion 
drivers.

My Theme is Oxyglass more.. that does have semi transparent applets, so I 
tested with Aya and all looks good.

So some problems - Kopete notifications are misplaced, so I can't see "Chat"

and "Ignore" button. Amarok is broken too [1].

Are we going to fill these bugs? As I'm suffering only that notification one, 
I'll report it.

And KPackageKit notifications too. Buttons are rendered out of screen.
