F19 akonadi_imap_resource GSSAPI failures
by Anthony Joseph Messina
I just fresh-installed a F19 system, keeping my NFS mounted /home directory.
Everything has gone well so far with the exception of the connection to my
Cyrus-IMAPd mail servier with Akonadi/Kmail. I can no longer connect via
SASL/GSSAPI. My mail server shows the following in the mail log:
GSSAPI [SASL(0): successful result: mech PLAIN is too weak]
As I said, my /home directory is and NFS mount, so no changes to my personal
configuration occurred.
The following cyrus-sasl RPMs are installed in F19:
cyrus-sasl-2.1.26-9.fc19.x86_64
cyrus-sasl-gssapi-2.1.26-9.fc19.x86_64
cyrus-sasl-lib-2.1.26-9.fc19.x86_64
cyrus-sasl-md5-2.1.26-9.fc19.x86_64
cyrus-sasl-plain-2.1.26-9.fc19.x86_64
cyrus-sasl-scram-2.1.26-9.fc19.x86_64
Any ideas where to begin on resolving this issue? A related BZ is here,
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=267884 but I don't see any resolution
there.

qt-4.8/kde-4.10 (hopefully) for rhel6 coming soon
by Rex Dieter
folks have repeatedly asked about newer/featureful kde builds for rhel6
over the years, and I've put off mostly due to lack of interest and
time... until yesterday.
Making some good progress, so our mostly empty rhel6 kde-testing repo
should see some significant content showing up over the next week or so.
Warning: It'll be rough initially, we're at the "it builds! ship
it..." stages, so copious testing and feedback would be greatly appreciated.
My strategy so far is to minimize upgrading core el6 packages as much as
reasonably possible. We'll see how far that takes us.

akonadi resource
by Timothy Murphy
There seems to be a bug in KMail;
I'm running dovecot on a server,
and if I try to create a new top-level folder
in KMail on my laptop
there is a problem which seems to be to do with akonadi.
I get the message
alfred: Could not create collection Spam:resourceId: 13
every 30 seconds or so on my laptop
until I ssh to the server and delete the folder.
(Here "alfred" is the name of the account, and of the server,
and "Spam" is the name of the folder I have created.)
I'm not asking how to solve this problem.
(I've submitted a bugzilla.)
But I'm interested to know a bit more
about akonadi and its "collections" and "resources".
Is there some documentation on this?
I looked around but didn't find much.
I know if I go to System Settings=>Akonadi Configuration
I see a list of akonadi resources.
But what exactly is a resource?
Can I get information on a resource if I have its Id?

KMail: still getting bug supposedly fixed
by Timothy Murphy
I just added the following comment to the bug report
<https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=292418>.
This bug is reported FIXED and I was told to re-open it
if I thought it was still there.
However, I didn't see any way of re-opening it.
-----------------------
I'm still having what I assume is the same problem with KMail: 4.10.4
I'm running KMail on my Fedora-19/KDE laptop,
collecting email from a dovecot server on a CentOS-6.4 machine.
When I try to create a top-level folder "Spam" on my laptop
I get the message from the server (ie dovecot machine)
"alfred: Could not create collection Spam:resourceId: 13"
I see that a maildir folder ~/Maildir/.Spam/[cur,new,tmp]
is actually created on the server,
but it is not visible on the laptop KMail menu.
If I right-click on the account "alfred" on the laptop
and choose "Serverside subscriptions"
I do see the folder "Spam" listed, and ticked.
The new folder is visible with KMail on the server,
and I am able to transfer email to the folder in KMail
(always running on the server).
So the only problems are
(1) the folder is not visible on the laptop in KMail
(2) I get regular messages on my laptop as stated above
"alfred: Could not create collection Spam:resourceId: 13"

Where can I find my current screensaver?
by Timothy Murphy
I like my current screen saver - path through an avenue of trees -
and would like to save it, or perhaps make it permanent.
How can I do that?
I should say I'm running Fedora-19/KDE.

KDE Wallet
by Timothy Murphy
I've never really understood the Fedora wallet system.
I'm reading the official KWallet Handbook
which has been a little helpful.
I see that some of the issues that puzzled me
were probably due to the default option
to close when unused for 10 minutes
(which I've now switched off).
But one puzzle remains.
I have two wallets, Wallet and KDE Wallet.
Is that normal?
I did not create them deliberately,
so I assume they were created automatically,
perhaps while running some ancient Fedora.
Some applications have entries in both,
though most entries are in KDE Wallet.
Could I safely delete the other wallet?

Installation woes
by Ronnie A Jones
Greetings! I have downloaded Fedora 19 KDE Spin and burned the iso to CD.
When I begin the installation process, it does not enter or begin the
process. I am currently using Fedora 17 Gnome 3 with KDE software
applications. I prefer the KDE application. But, problem is the
installation process will not initiate. Thanks for your help.

KMail/Dovecot creating mail folder
by Timothy Murphy
I'm running KMail on a Fedora-19 laptop,
taking email from a Dovecot IMAP server on a CentOS-6.4 machine
called "alfred".
I can create an email folder alfred/Spam in KMail on my laptop
(ie a folder called Spam in the top folder alfred)
and after creating it I see that it does actually exist
in ~/Maildir/.Spam/ on the server.
However, I can't see this new folder in KMail (re-started)
on my laptop.
I've had this problem (with other folders) for years.
At one point one could not create folders in KMail in this way;
it was greyed out.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
