will you look the files sizes from
ls -la ~/.kde/share/apps/kmix/profiles/ if you have a file with a size
from a 1Mb maybe you want to look at

the above happens with a local pulseaudio sound server and using vlc
as
backend,
I'm using the gstreamser backend - although I have tried the vlc backend
sometimes, so it might have been a cause.
the workaround is at

but
maybe restarting the machine after moving the files is a good idea
