KDE SC 4.3.85 copy/paste weirdness
by Eelko Berkenpies
Hi all,
I'm asking this on behalf of a colleague which is experiencing the
following problem:
"There seems to be a problem when using both the keyboard and mouse
buffer.
When i make a textselection and store it in the keyboard buffer (using
ctrl + c) followed by a textselection which is stored in the mouse buffer,
the mousebuffer overrides the keyboard buffer. When i try to paste the text
using ctrl + v it pastes the textselection stored in the mouse buffer (and
not the textselection which should've been stored in the keyboard buffer)."
Anyone got any clue what could be causing this?

The GNOME group contains too many packages
by Arthur Pemberton
The GNOME Desktop package group simply contains too many packages.
There (seems) to be no good way of removing GNOME from an install in
order to install another DE, such as KDE. A groupremove even pulls out
the kmod-nvidia files. Against what do I file a bug report about this?
Once again I find myself with a DVD install which with the default
GNOME which I want to turn to a KDE install, and the excess bandwidth
and time is ridiculous.

Just a Friendly Heads Up
by Eli Wapniarski
For those of you using kde-plasma-ihatethecashew and kde-translatoid.
The newest version of kde-plasma-ihatethecashew is being pushed to updates testing and should be there shortly. As soon as it is I will push to updates.
As for the newest version of kde-translotoid.
It is dependant on a new package qjson. Which, no thanks to my thick head but with many thanks to the patience and prodding by Orchan, has been approved and is awaiting space in cvs. Once that's there and I can get qjson pushed into cvs and updates testing. I will get the newest build of kde-plasma-translatoid into updates-testing and then updates.
Thanks for your patience.

potential kde-4.3.4 badness, X fails to start?
by Rex Dieter
Just had 3 reports come in about X failing to start properly after
up'ing to kde-4.3.4,
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=551310
"update to kde-4.3.4 - X startup fails, xf86OpenConsole: VT_WAITACTIVE
failed: Interrupted system call"
I'm very much hoping this is an exception and not the rule, esp after
having kde-4.3.4 sit in testing repos for almost 2 weeks. Any ideas,
help, debuggin, fortune telling, welcome.

[RHEL] kde 4
by Misc Things
Hello,
i'm trying to install KDE 4 on CENTOS 5 ( RHEL5) and came across this site.
I added repo (http://apt.kde-redhat.org/apt/kde-redhat/redhat/kde.repo) and
enable ( enable=1) test and test-all reps, but the highest version i can
find is 3.5.
I'm sure i'm missing smth simple, just can't figure out what.
Would you mind to advise me ,please ?
thank you

Kontact on 4.3.85
by Anne Wilson
I *think* I didn't post this question before Christmas, but since I'm just
recovering from flu, please forgive me if I'm duplicating it.
Since moving to 4.3.85 I've had quite a lot of problems with KDE-pim. Kontact
often won't start. Most of the time I can't get it to start from my panel
icon, a desktop icon, or krunner, but usually it will start from konsole.
When I do get it running I find that akregator doesn't run within kontact.
I've no clue whatsoever on that one.
A couple of things I've noticed, that may or may not be clues to the KMail
problems.
kontact(3960) KMKernel::getFolder: Folder not found: "/Local"
What is it expecting to find here? The clue seems to be in the Akonadi
Confiuration module. Three resources are defined there, my addressbook and
remote diary, both of which have been there for a while, and new one, Local.
It seems that that looks at /home/anne/.local/share/local-mail - and I can see
no reason whatsoever for that. I'm tempted to try pointing it to
/home/anne/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail/inbox/ - but the setting seems so
bizarre that I thought I should check first.

Kontact crashes

I'm getting frequent kontact crashes since I installed F12. Is this a common
problem?

local alias not respected

In ~/.bashrc I have the following alias:
alias yus='yum update --skip-broken'
This no longer works since I installed F12. Any idea why?
