[Fedora-trans-it] Self introduction
by Sarah Wang
Hello members of the Italian translation community,
I'm one of the maintainers of the Fedora Translation Project. I have
received a number of queries regarding how to contribute Italian
translation to the Fedora project. I hope this email will help to
clarify some issues.
The current Italian translation status can be viewed on:
http://carolina.mff.cuni.cz/~trmac/fedora-i18n.html
As you may notice, currently there are a number of packages not 100%
translated. This would be an excellent starting point to contribute.
To become a translator, you need a cvs account (I believe many of you
have already signed up one). The place to sign up an account is at:
http://rhlinux.redhat.com/cgi-bin/i18n-signup/
Once you account has been approved, you will be able to check out cvs
module and work on the translation:
export CVS_RSH=ssh
export CVSROOT=:ext:sarahs@i18n.redhat.com:/usr/local/CVS
cvs co -z9 translate/
You would be able to find all files under your translate/ directory. The
files are in po format. You can use any text editor to edit them but I
recommend kbabel because this tool is very easy to use. You can also try
poEdit and gTranslator.
Once files are translated you can commit them back to cvs:
cvs commit -m "some log message" filename
For more information please refer to one of my earlier emails sent to
fedora-trans-list:

Please feel free to ask any questions. I will do my best to answer them.
Happy translating!
Regards,
Sarah
