initscripts
by Josep Puigdemont
Hi!
When translating initscripts, I've found this:
#: /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions:441
msgid "Start service $1 (Y)es/(N)o/(C)ontinue? [Y] "
I see in Spanish they translate it as "...(S)i/(N)o/(C)ontinuar? [S] "
Same for Welsh (but different letters :), Italian, and the rest... So
we'll translate it as such. But I am a little bit curious, is there some
magic in the script that will understand it? How does this work?
Thanks a lot!
Regards,
/Josep

Some questions...
by Metin Amiroff
Hi translators and coordinators!
I have some questions related with fedora-i18n...
1. I was wondering if there was any way to get only
pot files for translating because doing cvs -z9 co translate
takes too long with dial up connection.
2. Is there any plan to build status pages like Gnome
and KDE communities have? I know about
http://elvis.redhat.com/cgi-bin/i18n-status but
I am looking for the thing where we could download
po/pot files from the web.
3. Do we have an "add" permission with our cvs account?
I mean how do we add our very first translations?
I know that we can commit but not sure about adding.
Should we send them to Sarah Wang or other coordinator?
4. I am quoting:
from Hariraam Aathreya:
>The other requirement to be included in the
> distribution, I believe, is a proper GPL'ed font.
Is this correct? Which types of fonts are required?
Being an Azeri developer I can tell that our latin based
alphabet is supported by many commercial fonts
(MS fonts also) but the only TTF alternative in Open
Source world is "Mandrake Teams". Though other
font types are not a problem and all of them support
Azeri latin.
So, what are the real conditions to get into
release? Is there any documentation related this?
Thanks for your time.

up2date translation
by Vladimir Lazarenko
Hello,
I tried to submit a few tanslated and corrected entries to ru.po of up2date,
made 'make update-po' and commited it, however it never appeared in status
pages and it's been about 36 hours since.
Does that mean my changes never got in? Or do they have to be approved or
something?

Simple script to get translations for one language
by Volodymyr M. Lisivka
Simple script to keep up to date copy of the translations from CVS for
one language.
Run update.sh - it should get latest copy of translations from CVS.
You may need to set value of the TR_LANG variable at top of the script
by hands.
You may use it for editing too, just replace each CVS/Root with your
own, eg.
====code======
for I in CVS/Root */CVS/Root
do
echo ":ext:lisivka@elvis.redhat.com:/usr/local/CVS" >$I
done
====code======
And then do "cvs -z6 ci" to commit your changes into CVS.

Tamil essentials: 90%
by Hariraam Aathreya
Essential files for Tamil
is all set to cross the
90% threshold for the first time.
I have a few questions :
1. The other requirement to be included in the
distribution, I believe, is a proper GPL'ed font.
What is the procedure
to get the font(s) into the repository ?
2. Assuming the font requirements are met before
Mar 19th, will the translations go into FC2 ?
3. What needs to be done to see the translations
on my current Fedora Core 1 Desktop ?
Thanks,
hari.
