Source string contextualization
by Nilamdyuti Goswami
Hi all,
While translating some of the fedora packages we often come across some
source strings whose context or meaning is not clear. This results in
wrong translations which is discovered later while using the actual
application. This in turn effects the concerned application.
To solve this issue, we have formed a Fedora SIG named "Source String
Contextualizing Group" [1] aimed at
providing concise yet meaningful description of the concerned source
strings in the source code itself to ensure the correctness and quality
in the resulting translations.
We welcome feedback and suggestions.
Regards,
Nilamdyuti Goswami

Fedora 20 Installation Guide ready for translation!
by Petr Bokoc
Hello everyone,
the Installation Guide and Installation Quick Start Guide for Fedora 20
are now ready for translation.
Same as last time, the project is being translated in Zanata instead of
Transifex. I know most of you prefer TX, but we had problems with it in
the past due to the large scope of this guide, so we're keeping it in
Zanata now - sorry. You can find the project here:
https://translate.zanata.org/zanata/iteration/view/fedora-installation-gu....
I would also like to ask anyone who wants to translate the Installation
Guide to look at the following page:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Installation_Quick_Start_Guide_files.
This is a list of files which you should give the highest priority to.
Having these translated first will allow me to publish the Installation
Quick Start Guide in your language early, without having to wait for the
entire guide to be finished. Please notify me (send me an e-mail or ping
me on IRC in #fedora-docs at freenode) when you finish all of the files
listed on this wiki page, as I unfortunately have no way of easily
monitoring them myself.
I'm looking forward to your contributions, and of course, contact me
with any questions or if you find any issues.
Cheers,

[Bug 1051246] New: Problem with pango markup in Tamil translation for anaconda
by Red Hat Bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1051246
Bug ID: 1051246
Summary: Problem with pango markup in Tamil translation for
anaconda
Product: Fedora Localization
Component: Other language
Assignee: dimitris(a)glezos.com
Reporter: dshea(a)redhat.com
QA Contact: aalam(a)redhat.com
CC: dimitris(a)glezos.com, piotrdrag(a)gmail.com,
trans(a)lists.fedoraproject.org
Description of problem:
The msgid is:
<b>You don't have enough space available to install %(productName)s</b>,
even if you used all of the free space available on the selected disks. You
could add more disks for additional space, modify your software selection
to install a smaller version of <b>%(productName)s</b>, or quit the
installer.
The msgstr in ta.po from transifex is:
The problem is the markup. The original string uses <b></b> to mark the first
clause as bold, and the translation includes the <b> but not the </b>.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
anaconda-21.15-1
