Hi All,
I am sure, most of the people working with Fedora I18N, L10N from 5-6
year must be aware regarding Fedora L10N Steering Committee. [1] As far
as i know this committee was active around 2009 and very effective.
During Fedora G11N activity day discussions, we again felt there is
need for some kind of official committee to drive Fedora Globalization
activities. Fedora is growing faster with number of different domains
and G11N also need to adapt those changes quickly to remain on the track.
For this purpose and in line with [1], we were thinking of Fedora
Globalization steering committee. I have created initial proposal for
it. [2]
Its open for feedback, please feel free to share other active members,
discuss in your respective language groups. This is just initial
proposal and i am sure, we can improve and make it more effective with
active participation.
Regards,
Pravin Satpute

Hi,
My name is Alex Eng and I'm from Zanata team.
Apart from engineering, I'm interested in working in translations too for
Fedora.
I'm fluent in Simplify Chinese, Malay, English, and Traditional Chinese but
I would start with Simplify Chinese for the time being.

It is my understanding that we have moved from transifex to zanata. Correct?
Lots of the L10N pages still point to transifex and it would help for
onboarding new contributors if they pointed instead to zanata.
For instance, this one is laden with references:

Hello guys,
The page[1] and [2] are listinfo and administration links for the
mailing lists on list.fedoraproject.org. However I couldn't find
trans_zh-cn(Chinese translation mailing list) mailing list on both
pages. I thought it was on the pages before.
According to the page info, that questions and comments should be sent
to mailmanATlists.fedoraproject.org. I wrote an email on this issue to
the address, but it was rejected for I am not the member of it.
So does anyone know how to contact the Fedora mailman mailing list
maintainer/administrator? Or whom should I contact to add the
trans_zh_cn mailing list info to those pages?
Thanks.

Hi there,
A few month ago, we created a (wish)list of subjects, related to i18n
and l10n :
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/G11N/Fedora_24_G11N_Enhancements
As a new contributor, I was a bit confused about the many websites and
tools of Fedora, because some are homemade others where use as SaaS
solutions and didn't really know how to navigate from one to another,
nor understood if translation was missing because the software didn't
support it or because of the lack contributors.
I made a list of every websites I found :
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/G11N/List_of_Fedora_sites
The status is not very good :
* some websites are not translated (ex : developer.fedora)
* many sites don't have the Fedmenu button to help navigation
* most of tools are not translated
It was pretty much expected, but now, how do we fix this ?
The work is huge, so we need to make a little bit of planning.
What are the guidlines we would like to have for websites and tools ?
We also have to agree with websites teams and infra team and be
realistic : none of our groups can handle and objective like 100% of
websites and tools have to be internationalized and translated.
Anyone would like to help me writing and then discussing with #Website
and #Infra groups ?
Subjects are :
* global guidelines
* short term objectives (2016)
* mid-term objectives (2017)
Sincerely,
